@Rookie (not the magazine) (not that there's anything wrong with that)

yay! I thought your idea sounded really fun so I'm glad it worked out!

Dilemma: I have been casually hooking up with this dude for a couple weeks now. It's been fun, but I'm starting to realize I actually want a boyfriend and casual hooking up instead is making me sad. Getting a boyfriend right now is tricky because I plan on leaving town in the spring. Casual Hookup is just likeable enough that I would like to date him, but I have a feeling it wouldn't work out in the long run (assuming he was even interested in dating as opposed to casual hooking up, which I don't think he is?). I know I should just break it off...but the sex. The sex, you guys.

Sigh. I just wanted to rant. :/

Pinners! I have a quarter life crisis question! How does one get one of those part-time service-industry type positions with no experience? I'm 24, in grad school, and I've worked part time since undergrad, but always in libraries. No experience in retail/food service or anything. I think I would just...like to know I could get a job like that if I needed to? Will my Master's make me completely unemployable?

On "Only You, Mary Lou": In Search of the Olympic Moment

@Hammitt ARE YOU ME?! I tried to watch the swimming trials on TV but I couldn't get through it because every commercial was an Olympic commercial, and they ALL MAKE ME CRY. I am so shameless about bald eagles wrapped in stars and stripes crying a single tear during the Olympics.

(Also: World Cup. World Cuuuuuuuup. I LOVE IT SO MUCH.)

On Really Good Books For People Who Are Reading a Lot of Articles About Girls

@Interrobanged I LOVE Born Confused!!! It's one of my favorite books. It makes me sad that no one else on earth seems to know about it (except you apparently!).

On Beauty Disasters: How to Cover Up Almost Anything

Question tangentially related to nail polish dings: has anyone tried nail polish drying drops? I have sooooo many polishes and I can't help but think that I would use them more often if painting my nails didn't mean a forced* 30 minutes of sitting not touching anything and praying that I don't get too hungry or need to pee or need to answer the phone or something. Am I right or would it just be another unnecessary nail product??

*Naturally I can spend hours laying around not doing anything, but when my nails are wet suddenly I have 48392058 things I NEED to do with my hands. Typical.

On Ask a Humanities Grad Student

@Petrichoria I am going to lib school starting in the fall (archives concentration). I've been interested in this for ~5 years by this point and that entire 5 years everyone who knows the job market for librarians and archivists has basically told me that it's a terrible idea.

I'm still doing it because I love it and I can't imagine anything else I'd like to do. And ultimately that's the litmus test for any crowded job field. If it's not your life's passion (ugh I hate that word but I guess it applies), if there's anything more stable/easier to break into that you could see yourself doing...do it.

Otherwise I look forward to all y'all joining me in the unemployment line. XD
