On Beauty Q&A: What's That Smell?

@themegnapkin Word. I hate patchouli. It's the one scent that I actually can't stand to be around and I have found myself accidentally scowling at people who smell like it. Sorry, probably undeserving patchouli wearers!

On Beauty Q&A: What's That Smell?

JANE! I also have Kenzo Amour and I can't even wear it during the day because I spend the whole day being like "Whoooo smells too sexy for daytime? Oh. Me." My very favorites are Un Jardin En Mediterranee By Hermes and L'Ombre dans l'Eau by diptyque which makes me sound fancy but that is inaccurate.

I'm unreasonably excited that you posted about perfume because despite your wonderful videos I still don't know how to put makeup on my face or do my hair but perfume is my JAM.

On A Conversation With Kate Zambreno, Author of Green Girl

Thank you so much to both Kate and Edith for doing this follow-up. It's great to get more in-depth discussion of the book and how Edith responded to it, as well as how others responded to her response. So interesting! Green Girl wasn't on my radar before the Tournament of Books so I haven't read it yet, but I am very much looking forward to it after this.

On Leo Wyndham, "Veins"

I'm at about an 8 on a 1-10 stress-about-upcoming-deadlines scale and even so that song made me believe it was a slow evening in summer.

On Friday Open Thread

@Xanthophyllippa I live near a Big 5 and know the pain of not being able to find your favorite running shoes. If you email me details (my user name at gmail) I'd be happy to give it a shot.

On Interview With an Element: Chlorine

@camanda @bangs While we're confessing... I have the image on that planner as a giant jigsaw puzzle and it was *maddening*. I also have a kitchen apron with the periodic table on it, which makes me think of this.

@itmakesmewonder And some of the metals would be sort of formal, professorial types.

"So, Lead..."
"Plumbum, please."
"Right, excuse me, sorry."
