I live in New York. I like books and coffee and theatre and Mexican food (which I fly to Texas for) and baseball (Go Rangers.) Also, I have a girlcrush on pretty much all of you!

On Texas Senator Wendy Davis's Filibuster

@emilywhite See that confuses me though- if she was using the sonogram law to make an overall point or comparison about the current bill...that's not okay? How can she make a point about anything ever if that's the case?

On Texas Senator Wendy Davis's Filibuster

Can someone tell me how she "broke" the germaneness rule the 2nd time?

On Texas Senator Wendy Davis's Filibuster

@wee_ramekin Actually Wendy is a Fort Worth lady. My home city and a place that goes blue from time to time. Also San Antonio and Houston are both blueish cities. I mean. You know. For Texas. :)

On “Last Night I Drempt of Leo”: DiCaprio’s Oeuvre, Reviewed by a 15-Year-Old

This is so amazing! Pretty sure my old journals had the exact same tone.

My journal loves, in order:
1997-99 Leo. "No one will ever love me the way Jack loved Rose."
1999-2001 Joshua Jackson. "No one will ever love me the way Pacey loves Joey."
2000-2002 Han Solo. "No one will ever love me the way Han loves Leia."

On Ask an Adopted Person

@commanderbanana I've been wanting to read that! I should get it from the library I guess- haven't been able to bring myself to buy it in hardback.

On Ask an Adopted Person

@Alli525 It's not a light read mind you. But a LOT of it rung true for me in myself and my younger brother (also adopted).

On Ask an Adopted Person

@adorable-eggplant It's such a good book. It made me break out in hives a bit though. I sense (though she doesn't talk about it much) that my biological mom's experience had some things in common with experiences in the book, and I was born in 1986.

On Ask an Adopted Person

@Alli525 Yeah! The thing I sense with my parents sometimes is "We're parents because of the acts of parenting that we do" rather than "we're parents because we are." So a lot of times they put this massive pressure and guilt on themselves to be the Best Parents Ever. Similarly my brother and I have all kind of issues with Being the Best Children Ever.

Have you read any Betty Jean Lifton? Her Journey of the Adopted Self saved me a lot of therapy money. :)
