On Look, We're Gonna Talk About the Gatsby Trailer Now
I mean... it DOES seem very loudly and directionlessly and depressingly '20's. Which is kind of like this era also? So I guess it captures the zeitgeist as well as creates the emotional connection?

On Look, We're Gonna Talk About the Gatsby Trailer Now
The original movie had pounds of subtlety and focused on all the important parts of the book; hopefully this one will do the same.
I am annoyed that the dude with the squishy face and the dude with the smirky quiverlips were cast, but it does look like the director made good use of the color white...?
Also, the billboard is nicely done.
Ahhh the narrator's voice is the worst what if it's like that for the whole movie due to Nick's voyeur role?!

Baldness and fatness are similar, yeah. If someone's worried about looking good--meeting the lowest common denominator of conventional attractiveness--when they are in possession of a trait that is not conventionally attractive, it's not the worst thing to give them sexy tips.
I mean, fat dudes are the best, I love fat dudes, but if a fat dude was like "Ink, how do I stay sexy although I am fat?" I would be like "Brother, wear nice pants that hug your curves and toss your baggy shirts." No hairplugs/diet, just--these are tips to help your body in its natural element.
It's not sizeist/pateist to help people feel more confident embracing their traits. No one's saying "you went bald, shoot yourself in the head and leave the reconstructionist a $50 for a wig", they're saying this is how you do it.

On The League of Ordinary Ladies: Short Dates
Lying! Lying is fun.
I used to assume my fictional characters' identities on sites that had message boards or commenting to fully flesh out weak characters. It was very charming how close their long-distance friendships became, but I had to stop because it took up way too much time. I regularly think about the real-life people they befriended... Now I am extremely honest and that is fun as well.

On Wedding Ugg Has Life of Its Own
@frigwiggin
I know! I'm so surprised it hasn't happened already. When people are planning weddings, there are so many things they do that are entirely unnecessary. And they're like "I'm on a budget! ...Let's get these centerpieces!" These commercial obligations that are entirely unrelated to getting married have somehow worked directly into the fabric of a marriage ceremony, and even if you peroxide it out, it's never really gone because you're in fear that someone is poo-pooing you for not using invitations.
