Truck driver. I get so frustrated with traffic and driving and SMALL SPACES.
I've seen the show a few times and I still don't get it. I appreciated this read, but who is this person, the Catfish-er? Why is it (the stories I've read) always females perpetuating these lies? What is the motivation? What is it about our culture that is either empowering these women to manipulate others' lives so easily or is it that we are so completely disenfranchising them that they aren't confident enough to be an IRL person?
I don't get it.
LOVE LOVE LOVE. I'll have more etymology please!
@smidge Did your parents also make you watch On Our Own? I had nightmares about foster care for years.
@Jana Bickham@facebook Glad to know I wasn't alone- and I will say this movie fueled my elementary-age obsession with all things time-travel!
@frumious bandersnatch And my #1- In Your Wildest Dreams
Glad I got this out of my system.
Okay so I found the answer to my own #2: http://www.amazon.com/Split-Infinity-Gift-From-Past/dp/B0001V1M4G/ref=pd_sim_sbs_mov_4
Split Infinity (1992)
God bless you, Amazon.
@frumious bandersnatch Ahhhh if only! I remember this movie, too, and had no idea it was filmed in Texas. Thanks for the suggestion! The protagonist in the first film I mentioned was definitely a bit older- maybe 16-17? I think he made the money by impersonating a famous inventor and/or stocks of some sort. He was definitely pretending to be older than he was at some point.
Thanks for the help!
This is almost as good as the plots of forgotten books thread. I have two. They may have been made by an LDS production company, so heads up on that. I don't recall overtly religious themes, but I was a kid so I definitely wasn't looking for them.
1. Mid-90s straight-to-VHS video. A youngish kid who makes robots (the first scene involves a robot driving a car I believe) makes it rich and loses his friends/sense of what is right and wrong. There is a younger sister. He may also purchase a playset at some point for their backyard and I desperately wanted that playset. Also, an indoor pool. I think he eventually makes the right choices. The money may have come from a computer mix-up.
2. Early to mid-90s, straight-to-VHS video. An average teen girl goes back in time (maybe depression-era?) She has shoulder-length blonde hair and wears a bowler cap at some point. There's a party in a barn where she either jumps from the window or uses a line to zip line down. Eventually ends up back in her time.
Any help appreciated.
Also, I have no clue about any of the posted movies.
This is incredibly niche and most likely came from the Mormon bookstore growing up (Desert Press ftw) but all I remember is that a group of youth (or family?) goes camping and the youngest one washes her hair with either WATERMELON or STRAWBERRY shampoo and a bear eats her scalp off in the night.
I vaguely refer to this incident every so often when discussing shampoo but am unsure if I completely made it up or not. Verify?
LOVE this post, btw. And all the crazy plotlines outlined above.
