Food, Booze, Baking, Boyfriends, Swearing and Noisy music. These are my likes.
@hallelujah If only for the line "I don't wanna hurt nobody." Who would you hurt R? And why? Is this a side effect of your bump & grind getting slightly overly physical?
@Grumplestiltskin Sadly, papers over here aren't allowed to publish the photos. Which just makes them epic killjoys IMO.
All I can keep thinking about re: this affair is 'Damn, imagine how good TMZ would have been during the days of Henry 8th'.
@Emma Peel I'll remember that! I think I used lime juice once and it wasn't so good. I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to buttermilk and so use this hack all the time. I really need to invest in a cow.
@LolaLaBalc Not sure about creme fraiche, but it's dead easy to make a buttermilk substitute. Just add a tablespoon of lemon juice to some whole milk. Leave it for ten minutes or so, and WOO-HA, YOU HAVE BUTTERMILK (kind of).
I'll admit that I'm kind of guilty of crimes against soda bread. Last time I made it, I put too much bicarb in mine meaning that it tasted like washing powder and not delicious carby goodness. However, I've seen recipes where you dump half a fruit bowl into it. These are WRONG.
@rayray I currently flit between Liverpool (where I live and work) & Manchester (NW England reprazent!) I used to live in London though, and most of my friends live there so I'd be more than happy to travel down for a centralised 'Pin meetup.
@iceberg Festivus! Your family can bond around the airing of grievances and conducting feats of strength around an aluminium pole.
Merry Christmas 'pinners! You are, without a shadow of a doubt, one of my best discoveries of 2011 (along with 'This American Life' - how has it escaped my knowledge for so long? HOW?) Here's hoping there are more UK meet ups next year (I WILL go to one of these, I will!)
Part of the 'magic' of Christmas is being obliged to spend time with people you may not feel too keen about. You know what the secret is here? Booze. Sweet sweet delicious booze. Be it Red Booze, White Booze, Pink Booze or Brown Booze, let it be your friend and your guide. And whilst I'm here, GROW A PAIR. Jeez.
@feartie You can also cheat and buy the frozen ones from ASDA which cook in two minutes. These are very handy if you're pissed and feeling 'inventive'.
