On Beauty Q&A: ID Photos, Gaudy Shoes, and Looking 10 Years Younger

@insouciantlover I...never realized this was not normal! I was sitting hear reading your description and underside-of-foot touching and I was like "yeah so? sound like a foot... wait...THIS is my problem?" Maybe this is why I never never ever wear heels and find them excruciatingly painful? I AM HAVING EPIPHANIES HERE, GUYS. Foot epiphanies.

On Really Good Books That Inspired (Mostly) Good Musicals

@Cat named Virtute Last Bastille Day, my husband was in an indie production of Les Miz that was held in the loft/attic of a church in Fort Greene, where each song/scene was directed by a different director with a different re-imagining vision. It was basically the coolest thing ever (for nerds...like myself). "Who Am I" was a Chatroulette-style thing!

On GTFO, Prom

I honestly have no idea how much my prom experiences cost...but at my school it was a Big Deal type occasion. Designer ballgowns, professional hair and makeup, limo, fancy dinner reservations, hotel rooms afterparties, etc. I had no concept of money back then (in the 1990s). Oddly, actually going to prom (ie tickets) was FREE.

On What Happens When You Serve as an Alternate Juror

Jury duty! I have only had it one time but I actually got on a MURDER TRIAL for 2 weeks. Not sequestered or anything, but actual murder, you guys. It was super interesting, I kind of loved it. Civic duty etc! I think I got picked because the judge asked me if I could be impartial and I said something too smart/philosophical like "can anyone really ever be impartial?"
