@allofthecrafts Ummmm I bought a 25 lb bag recently, and then photographed it wearing a hat as "my new boyfriend." Because that's how much I love them.

By Winter Wooskie on Interview With a Feminist Mormon

I'm a feminist Mormon and while I have my frustrations with the church (and have had them since I was a cynical girl reading back issues of Sassy) I'm still Mormon and planning on staying so.

As much as I grapple with my religion (and it's something that I think and pray about daily) my reason for staying boils down to believing that this is where God want me to be. Mormons don't talk about it a lot (it doesn't really fit into the cultural patriarchy) but we believe that in addition to a loving Heavenly Father we have a Heavenly Mother who loves us. And I've had different spiritual experiences that have witnessed of their love for me, so much so that I don't doubt it anymore.

I struggle with some of the church's teachings (and flat-out disagree with some of them) but I'm here to stay and want to do my part to make things better.

Sobriety Update: 80 days and going semi-strong. I've given non-alcoholic beer a try and am oddly loving it. Weight loss, ahoy, though, and no hangovers. Also, no drunken mistakes to apologize for. This is intriguingly successful thus far. I shall update further in several weeks.
Rose, out.

I am loving that gawker article.

I almost wish I had a story about some demented drawing I made as a child, but mine was just sad. When I was in grade two or something, I found a tiny ladybug that I named Boots, and I kept it in a little open jar with a twig in it, and some grass. One day I checked the jar and Boots was gone. Thus, while sobbing, I drew a giant picture of me with tears flying around my head and wrote "BOOTS FLEW AWAY", then gave it to my mum. Who probably still has it.

@meetapossum I think more often, all that talk of touching and holding and deep deep rivers of luuuuuuurve just made everybody in the back row that much handsier. I had several friends who regularly rounded second base and were headed for third by the time they got to the last altar call.

I got a river of life flowin' out of me!
Makes the lame to walk and the blind to see!
Opens prison doors, sets the captives free!
I got a river of life flowin' out of me!

Spring up, o well (GUSH GUSH GUSH GUSH)
Within my soul!
Spring up, o well (SPLISH SPLASH)
And make me who-o-ole!
Spring up, o well (WHOOOOOOOOOOSH!)
And give to meee-ee
That li-iiife abundantly.

@Lily Rowan I don't know the tune to that one but in my head I'm singing it to the tune of Two Princes by the Spin Doctors.

hm. the "old lady who swallowed a fly" created such havoc in my house when I was a child.

I was at home with my dad on a saturday morning, drinking my milk.
There was a fly in the milk, and before I could stop myself I swallowed it. I WAS BESIDE MYSELF WITH PANIC because I just kept thinking of that song. My dad became panicked too, and before you know it he's giving me ipecac to help me vomit up said fly.

An hour later, my mom arrives home to a complete and utter mess. All because we were worried I would die by swallowing a fly.
