On Friday Bargain Bin: Thanksgiving!

@thebestjasmine I love my Birchbox, although I thought the sparkly leopard nails were awful- teal zebra stripe? I gave mine to my mom, who likes to do her toenails in fun colors. I wish I knew what to tweak in my preferences to get more stuff I like, but most of the stuff I get is great.

I got my husband the Birchbox for Mans, but I was disappointed I couldn't get the mystery box, since apparently the code only works for full-size product purchases.

On Ask a Clean Person: Wite-Out, Confetti, and Nasty Boots

@bouncy castle I was excited when there was ONE other girl for a while, and then that game died.

I second the character builder. It is fabulous.

On Where Are Scissors When You Need Them

@jen325 Yes, I am not okay with the string criss-crossing itself. Why would you make someone you love do all that busy work? It would stop being cute and start being annoying the first time I had to double back on myself.

@sophia_h Have you seen the amazing movie of "The Mirror Crack'd" where they made Angela Lansbury look all old?

On Ask a Handy Femme: Old Walls, Old Windows, and New Paint

Oh! A painting trick I learned from my mom, who paints professionally: if you are priming first or have painted the ceiling, don't try to paint all the way to the corner between the wall and the ceiling. You will inevitably go a bit over or under and end up with a distracting border. Leave a tiny 1cm gap at the top of the wall (only if there's ceiling color or primer underneath, obviously) and it will look just the same as if you went to the corner, but it won't be distracting. We painted our ceilings though, so we had ceiling color on the top part of the wall underneath the paint.

Person with the windows: The spongy weather stripping is really great, and if you get the tubing instead, it comes in lots of different sizes. One other thing that might be useful is weatherseal tape (FrostKing makes it, I think). It looks sort of like packing tape, but is awesome. You can use it either when the weather stripping itself won't stay in place (it rattles out, maybe?), or if the gaps are too small for weather stripping.

@collier Those are also fantastic for deck stain or outdoor molding!

On Clearly Fake Advice Column Letter #8745

I love how sensible he was about the whole thing- it was just like any other "I found someone's stash" letter. If it was a fake, he totally took the bite out of the troll (wait, that sounds like I messed up a metaphor). If it was real, it was still good advice.
