On What to Bring to the Baby Shower of Your Sworn Enemy

True story: I once made a donation to a hospice in honor of someone's wedding. It is far and away the most passive aggressive thing I have ever done and I don't regret it AT ALL.

On How the Internet Changed Solo Travel

I went to Suriname alone, and it was an amazing trip (highly recommended for vacations both solo and with others). Warm, gorgeous, safe country, almost no tourists, tons of rainforests, delicious food, and while not fancy, you can probably afford a nice-ish hotel. Plus, how many of your friends have even heard of Suriname? You are so exotic! Only downside: you need to get a visa ahead of time, which takes some planning. I wrote about my trip here http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2011/02/17/AR2011021706463.html

On The Worst Makeout Mixtape Ever

I once had Bach's cello sonatas come on when making out with a thug-like guy I met in a club. I was totally embarrassed, but it turned out he thought it was really beautiful, and texted me later to find out the info so he could download it. Now we sometimes text about classical music.
