On The Quiet Return of The 'Pinup Roundup

I just posted in the Sydney (Australia, not Nova Scotia) Google Groups thread in the hopes of restarting the 'Pinup momentum. I turned 30 yesterday and decided real-life 'pinners should be my new grown-up friends. Actual grown-ups need not apply.

PS: I can't actually see my comment, but I absolutely made one. Hmm.

On It's Six O'Clock Somewhere

@sevanetta Hello! I'm in Sydney, and no I haven't (yet)! An Australian Pin-Up would be amazing, and I would *definitely* be in.

On It's Six O'Clock Somewhere

@sevanetta I am also in Australia! And there is nothing sadder than the realisation that everyone has said all the witty things before you got there.

On Are You Awake?

The trick to accidentally becoming a morning person is to get a cat. Mine is howling and destroying things if someone hasn't fed him by 6:45am.

Mind you, I still have that hangover from my teens where being in bed before midnight feels like a waste of the whole evening, so I'm slowly becoming insane from never-quite-enough sleep, but a cat landing on your face from a great height is definitely an effective alarm clock.

On I'm Changing My Name, Again

@ingrid.tuesday Not weird! I did it! I didn't like my last name or my stepfather's last name (...or, frankly, my stepfather) and so after some deliberation I changed it to my great-grandmother's maiden name. Her/my surname is easily pronounced, only hard to spell if you're an idiot, and is very pretty with the middle name I also added and in fact now go by! In short I changed my whole name and it was liberating as hell and if I should ever get married I'm not changing it again, it's too perfect.

On Ask a Clean Person: The Basics

@sox Keep trying! Dry food is not great for cats, especially boy cats, because in nature they get most of their moisture from their food, and so don't naturally drink enough to keep them hydrated. A lack of hydration can cause crystals in their urine, which will back them up and shut down their kidneys and this happens SCARY FAST and you won't know because cats are NONCHALANT IN THE FACE OF ILLNESS. So yeah, wet food = happy kitty. Maybe some plain chicken?

On Smartphones: Way Better than Frantic Prayer and Bargaining

@ChanandlerBong Seriously biased as it would have taken extensive firepower and very hot pokers to get me near a ride that even considers upside down as an option (or fast. Or side-to-side.) but no, I don't think that was drama queeny. You have but one delicious brain and I'm delighted you acknowledge its value by not bashing it against roofs.

On Learning to Drive for the First Time as a 28-Year-Old: A Basic Primer

I'm 29 and don't drive. I live in an area well serviced by public transport and frankly have too many books to get through as it is. I've fully intended to learn every year (handy skill to have, etc), and never have I actually achieved this. Now I think I'm too filled with screaming terror to attempt it. Woe.
