@olivebee I don't know about the figs, but apple cider vinegar and maple syrup (or honey, brown sugar, etc.) is actually a good combo. Add ginger and you have switchel, aka haymaker's punch. It's old-school Vermont gatorade, basically.

On Famous People I Thought I Saw on the Street, But It Wasn’t Them at All

AHH. This reminded me that I saw a comedian/character actor at Downtown Crossing in Boston recently, except I can't remember his name and it's driving me nuts. I've just spent the last 20 minutes googling variations on "bald comedians."
