I live in Brooklyn, work in Manhattan, and try to be an artist. Failing that, I work in a lab.
I once received an email from a notoriously difficult supervisor that only contained two words: "good job". No punctuation, no caps, and still possibly the nicest thing he has ever said to me. I can still find this email at a moment's notice, despite the fact that this was two jobs ago.
@eoporto ACK, a friend of mine, I swear it was a friend and not me, picked up a Marie Claire on an airplane, and apparently in the middle of some article about Olivia Wilde it mentioned that she had been dating "Salman Rushdie, ex-husband of Padma Lakshmi." AND NO FURTHER EXPLANATION OF WHO HE IS.
Thank you Hairpin! You have made my lunch deliberations today much easier.
@Heat Signature First stop, chonga store.
@The Lady of Shalott It's how I excuse not quite pulling the look off, but doing it anyways.
@Heat Signature I'll be your friend! Does it count if I do all but the last one ironically?
@JoanTition The amazing part is that she always looks FABULOUS. Like every fucking time.
On a side note, I'm frequently surprised by how many Miami judges became television judges. I used to live near Cristina Pereyra, and I have distinct childhood memories of Judge David Young and that his chambers were filled with penguin figurines.
Sooooo, I've known Marilyn for a while, what with being a child of lawyers in Miami, her kid going to my high school, etc. My last BF met her at a Christmas party I dragged him to, and he claims to this day that one of his proudest moments was arguing her down about some point of law or other (I do not understand, being neither lawyer nor law student).
@cherrispryte I generally follow this system: I weigh my enjoyment of eating an animal against my perception of how much pain that animal feels when it's slaughtered. The result is that I will not eat octopus or chicken (mostly because their whole lives suck in factories, not just their slaughter), but I will continue to eat red meat and fish.
On Pin Pals
@Jennifer Culp And you would be totally accurate.
