As for me, these days, I read only Bustle.

Does anybody else remember Hortense? She was my favorite Jezebel-er at one point and then she just kind of vanished. I remember reading her Tumblr and it seemed like she had some personal life issues, but I hope she's doing okay.

The Hairpin, it felt very cool-girl, very sophisticated.

Sorry what? What Hairpin is she talking about? The Hairpin was always the total opposite of that, at least when it started. Alex Balk described it perfectly to me (when, full disclosure, I was SQUALLING at him for launching the site. "Why do we need a Lady Awl? Why can't The Awl still be for ladies and dudes? I HATE YOUR PINK GHETTO.") by saying, "Well it's a site for weird girls."

He really did mean that as a good thing. And it totally was a good thing, and not at all a "cool-girl" site, hello?

"When parents are saying, 'We do not feel we can adequately cope with that issue,' I believe them."

This is so perfect and eloquent.

@Passion Fruit BTY - when you hit the 34ish mark you start to have a really good friendship with your mom and you can say things like "Hubby and I havent had sex much really, is that normal?" and you will get an honest, non judging answer. Something that is really hard to come by with your same age friends.

@lobsterhug

Yeah, I totally agree, every year I get closer to 30, I feel more and more peaceful, calm, focused. It's so nice!

I am being completely unoriginal here, but I'm sure most of you have seen When Harry Met Sally, yeah? This letter reminds me of it, so much, in this way: In it, Meg Ryan's best friend Carrie Fisher spends the first half of the movie trying to convince herself that the man she's sleeping with will leave his wife for her.

The exchange between the two of them always goes like this, over and over:

Meg: "He's never going to leave her."
Carrie: "You're right, you're right. I know you're right."

LW, you are Carrie Fisher. He's never going to leave her.

By Lu2 on Get This Look: Household Appliances

@OwlOfDerision That outfit moved me more than any other GTL item ever. This whole post, too, was the best of the series, IMO. I don't know, I guess I relate to household appliances to an even greater extent than previously suspected.
