On Apropos of Nada
@KatieBarTheDoor My mother-in-law's toy poodle died at 17 last month and the week before he died he was still jumping way the heck past my waist. If I could jump the equivalent, I could do the pole vault without a pole.

@Tragically Ludicrous better in your napkin than in your hair after the birds escape.

On Ask a Clean Person: Laundry School - Bras and Mildew and Taffy, Oh My!
@DH@twitter My washing machine always did this when I did sheet loads, by which I surmised that it's because certain areas of the fabric didn't get rinsed well enough. Since I started setting the machine to do an extra rinse the problem has more or less disappeared.

On The Finger-Wave Hair Tutorial
@Scandyhoovian I have hair similar to yours and the sock-bun thing works pretty well for me. At least, better than anything else except getting it done at the hairdresser. The curl still falls out by the end of the day but it looks really good for 6 or 7 hours. Just don't brush it or you will cry as all the pretty curls disappear.

@disgruntled co-worker Thanks! We definitely have Vanish brand in Italy so I'll have to check for the Oxi version the next time I'm at the supermarket.

@Tragically Ludicrous What's it called there? I'm in Italy but sometimes the brand names are more similar through Europe.

On Beauty Disasters: How to Cover Up Almost Anything
@Four Horsemeals of the Eggporkalypse I have tried them. They work ok, but not perfectly. Meaning that they get your nails to that mostly dry state in about 2 minutes. By 75% I mean that you can go to the bathroom or put on a pair of shoes with care without messing up the polish. However, they seem to make arrival at 100% dry (meaning that you can sit on your hands without drying weird forms into the polish or like, accidentally bang your fingernail against something hard) slightly slower than without anything.
The other thing is that my bottle evaporated away at least half the contents, even though I kept it closed really tight. Maybe it was defective, I don't know.

On Happy Birthday, Shakespeare
@PistolPackinMama I saw King Lear at the Guthrie in 95 or 96 and even my high school class was quiet and rapt. That space was really really good for both plays and concerts.

On Really Good Books That Happen to Be Free For the Kindle: Part One
@Grumphy@twitter So I do not even have a bathtub* and the last time I did I think I took an average of one bath per year, but your comment made me feel like my Kindle was lacking and I started to get all depressed. And then I realized that I have PMS. It was an emotional 30 seconds.
*I do have a shower.
