This seems like a lame fangirly thing to suggest on the Hairpin's website, but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND organizing/attending a Pin-Up! When I moved down to Atlanta, I went to a Pin-Up without knowing a soul in the city and met some wonderful ladies who quickly became friends. It really made all the difference!
@wharrgarbl Thank you!
I recognize that this is not resposive to any important part of this wonderful article, but isn't the backstory in The Parent Trap that the twins were split up in the world's most bizarre divorce settlement? Was it also at birth? For some reason probably unsupported by the movie/remakes, I pictured this happening when the twins were young toddlers?
@dinos Interns, you are so loved.
@messofme YES. I'm a Thursday/October (full or woe AND far to go?). I had an opal necklace that I wore everyday, but it SPONTANEOUSLY BROKE AND FELL INTO DISHWATER. After that, it was cloudy and sort of ugly, which was fine and I still wore it all the time. Until it disappeared. While I was wearing it! I think the new chain must have also broken? I'm kidding (it was gremlins).
So I think the real message is that Octobers need - but can never have - opals
@24k Did you tell us this one before? In one of Jane's columns? Or has this happened to two 'Pinners? This story scares the jeebus out of me. I take Doxy every now and then because my acne came back with a vengeance when I went off YAZ birth control (speaking of class-actions-we-didn't-join, I had an obscene number of blood clots in my lungs). I am taking those pills in the morning from now on!
@Lucia Martinez This must be one of those "everyone's skin is different" things. Proactiv didn't help my acne and it gave me this ridiculous bumpy rash - on my face- that didn't go away for over a month. I remember feeling like Jessica Simpson had lied to me.
@punkahontas One year we took boxed wine bags (red wine) and tried to make them look like blood transfusions. Mostly we just suspended them poorly from a metal contraption that looked nothing like an IV stand. And it didn't work at all. And we we ended up just cutting a hole in a random cardboard box we found in the closet. But this! This could work!
The thing that made me laugh the most about this post is that the link in "Mylant-o-lantern" is just a link to the Mylanta website. But then I saw that there's a recall of Mylanta liquid products! From November 2010! Girls! Do NOT drink your Mylanta-liquid-products-o-lantern before checking this website.
