On Martin Short Is Great

@raised amongst catalogs I can picture that "Twistin' the Night Away" dance right now! Watched that movie a lot when I was little.

Also, I loved that Martin Short interview with Kathy Lee (?) where she's going on and on about his wife (who died) and is all "so how long have you guys been married?" and he doesn't correct her on air, but says "I've loved her for 30 (or whatever) years"

On Emus, Mentors, Cupping

Sarah Lazarovic!

When I worked for a parenting website and we were trying to find Passover content, she made us such a lovely illustration about her husband being new to all the traditions. http://bunchfamily.ca/tales-seders-awesome-jews-benjamin-errett/

She's great.

On Our Pregnant Week

Oh my God. There's so much good stuff on the Hairpin, but this is my favourite essay in some time. I hope when you decide to try for a baby that you don't have to go through all these ups and downs. Be well.

On Three Men in a Fortress

"Haven't you been paying attention?"

"With all my heart, but, again, MUCH LIKE 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy,' that doesn't necessarily translate into understanding"

That's the most perfect assessment of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.

On Friday Bargain Bin: Jumping the Gun on Halloween

@KatnotCat Yes, I am very jealous of the women who can pull this look off. I would like to, but am a wuss with an ample bosom.

I have one dress where the top part is sheer, which I occasionally wear with just a nude bra underneath and I feel so badass. Like the nerdy girl in Miss Congeniality who twirls the fire batons.

On Friday Bargain Bin: Jumping the Gun on Halloween

@redheaded&crazie I'm sad about it too, though I recognize that Zellers itself became quite sad. I have very fond memories of the one I used to go to when I was little. I think most of my friends' birthday presents, or at least the wrapping paper, was acquired there. I didn't quite get around to visiting the one near my parents' house one last time before it closed.

But I don't quite see how Target is so superior? It's all the same stuff.

On Beauty Q&A: Hair Products -- Why So Many?

This maybe explains why I've had one really great blow-out and a couple crummy ones that didn't do anything. The good one probably ha gel.

And I think this column's convinced me to find some big velcro rollers. Or take a crack at that curling iron your How To Be A Girl video convinced me to buy last winter that I still haven't used.

On The Egg-Yolk Trick

I was going to say this looks like more work than just using the shell, but it's much too cool not to try. Now, who needs keylime pie?

On Get "Rich" Quick Scheme!

1) I thought that given the quotation marks, this would be about attracting some dude named Rich. But I like how this turned out!
2) (Sorry if I'm creepy, but) I feel like maybe I know one of your tribe members, if J the German-cum-Canadian is Julia who taught me German in Halifax now doing her PhD in New York.
3) I used to travel with a change of clothes + all toiletries, but now just an extra sweater and all the creams and cleansers I have that come in 100ml-or-less sizes
