@PistolPackinMama You've perfectly summed up what rubbed me the wrong way about the comment above. Nothing about this list applies to me, but it still makes me feel lousy. I feel like the attitude that fat = lazy = strike against you creates an atmosphere in which everyone ends up feeling worse about themselves.

@MrsLlama I don't blame you for not realizing it - it wasn't until a couple of years ago that I realized that the problem was due to shoe style not size and better-fitting pumps is not going to solve the problem. and it pretty much was a shoe-related epiphany.

@redheaded&crazie I don't really wear any heels above 3-3 1/2 inches (and not even that lately, but that's a different story) so I am totally with you on advocating more manageable heel heights. Unfortunately, it doesn't do anything to help with the arch issue. It's a problem with flats, too - anything where the entire foot is open (I am sure there is a technical term for this... am not sure what it is).

@Bambi what do you mean by the straps are low by the toe? I'm confused... :/

as far as ballet flats, I know what you mean! i have had a TON of problems with them and have found that sometimes the ones with elastic work. I have a pair by geox that is supposed to be super comfy and makes five inch heels seem comfortable by comparison, but I also found this pair: http://www.zappos.com/product/7714100/color/385 to stay on and be very comfortable as long as I'm not walking too far.

@insouciantlover That is exactly what's going on with me! If I'm wearing a pump, I can see into it while it's on my foot. .

I have a friend with the same problem who says that slingbacks work well for her, but honestly I just haven't tried that many pairs. I do remember trying a pair that really destroyed the back of my ankle, so I guess I was turned off after that even if it was more likely an issue with that particular pair than the whole style.

What if heels without a strap NEVER fit right. Ever. I've tried the foot petals and the heel grips, I've tried a size smaller (and larger). I took me YEARS to realize this but I think the issue is that my arch is so high that I'm not actually in the shoe, I'm just kind of balancing on it.

Is there hope for me, or should I stick with my current mary janes and boots only strategy?

@redheaded&crazie I was going to say I would be Arrr Starr. I think I actually came up with this handle in the first place when a friend of mine and I were talking about jello wrestling. Long version could be The Dread Pirate Arrr Starr.
