On How Do They Put Down and Take Off the Yellow Line So Quickly?

@Killer Kitties I will say, as a Yankees fan, I really hate the assumption that if you're a yankees fan you must not know anything about sports, so you just picked them by default because derek jeter's like soooo cute, you know? No, I grew up here with a Dad who grew up rooting for them, and now I still live here, so how is that any less valid than growing up with some other team?

On How to Survive a 10-Hour Flight Like a Lady

@Emmanuelle Cunt YES to the sleep mask. I have a ridiculous, super thick memory foam one (from the sharper image?) that has saved my life/sleep so. many. times. i look like an idiot with it on, but who gives a shit, really?

On Everyone Has HPV, Pretty Much

@E - that's a really good way to look at it. reminds me of how everyone was supposed to get meningitis shots before college - you were protecting yourself and the other people you lived with. i think you can look at the hpv vaccination that same way. i guess before i make this assumption, though, i should find out whether meningitis is an opt-in or opt-out vaccination. anyone know?

@leon - thanks for being awesome and totally reasonable.

On Hot Yoga Changed My Life, Body, and Spirit Animal

@jule_b_sorry I would recommended OM yoga in Union Square. They're really, really nice there, and there's always a wide range of age and body types in the classes I've taken.

On Bad Sex, Paying for the First Date, and Asking Out Your Barista

@foureyedgirl agreed! alternately,

Scene: Arrival at Bar
Dude: "I get the first round, you get the next?"
Me: "Sounds good."

For a 'oh, we're both from the internet, who knows if we like each other for realsies yet' kind of date, i think this is the appropriate way to get the chivalry part out there (ie, offering to pay for the first round) without having drop too much dough. Plus, it's polite. I would guess that MOST girls are chill with this scenario.

That being said, if you actually like the girl and want to take her out on a 'lets keep this thing going in real life' date, you should a) take her to dinner at a place in your general price range and b) pay. Just do it.
