i'm a college student (english major!) in st. paul, minnesota. i love books (james joyce!), vodka (whatever's cheap!), lipstick (bright red!), television (game of thrones!), and indie rock (the mountain goats!).
I am trying to sing all of these to the tune of "It's the End of the World As We Know It".
I love polka dots, so this was great. BUT I just looked up Polka-Dot Man and apparently he is actually a villain and one of Batman's enemies??? This is so disappointing.
@shart_attack Here in South Dakota it's just the liquor store. (But ever since my Detroit-native friend told me Michiganders call it a party store, I've begun jokingly referring to it as such. Party store!)
@frigwiggin YES, CAN WE? Aaaah. I ran into them first linked from that @HarryMyCatDied Twitter (which I can't decide if I think is mean or hilarious, but it's definitely interesting) but they are strange. I've also seen Tumblrs devoted to making Polyvore sets for the outfits you will wear in each scenario.
I GUESS what I find so bizarre about them is that ... teenage girls have been daydreaming about dates with their favorite celebrities for eons, but it's weird to see them discussed so publicly??
@Ragged But Right Oh my god, thank you so much. I can imagine it perfectly and I have never been gladder that I am just young enough for my friends not to be having children yet.
Perhaps I am dense but ... what IS a babymoon?
Ugh, I know it's super-late in the thread but whatever, I am tipsy and Open Threads are lovely and my first relationship ever ended this week after a year and a half. I KIND OF knew it was coming but... it's still hard D:
On the bright side, my BFF made me watch The Princess Bride yesterday (I know, I know, how did I get to age 22 without having seen it?) and it was SO WONDERFUL.
(Also, Game of Thrones!!)
My best friend forever, who first told me to watch Withnail back in 2007, passed this news along this morning and I've been rather glum all day. After all -
we're at the end of an age, in a land of weather forecasts and breakfasts that set in, shat on by Tories, shovelled up by Labour; and here we are, we three, perhaps the last island of beauty in the world.
@alien_she I thought the same thing! (In a totally complimentary way.)
