Oh man, Jared's comments about shame and vulnerability are hitting me really fucking hard today. Are there queer lady radical faeries?

@purefog Slut-shaming? I didn't know she had a reason for that to happen to her.
There's a documentary (Live Nude Girls Unite!) about the unionization of the Lusty Lady on Netflix as well as a few articles written by Siobhan Brooks, former LL employee and current professor, available online. It sounds like it was a messy, complicated, sometimes fucked up process that's not really repeatable. It's a nice idea though.
The Calder necklace and its backstory, that cabbage leaf collar, the turquoise snakey necklace, and the little dog in the Le Bal des Ardents image: this is my favorite Estate Jewelry post.
Lady "theory head" here ----- I've always been drawn to theory, even as a wee undergrad. I love Derrida's playfulness with language, I love the way theory attempts to work out the mysteries of the world... now that I'm dissertating, I've learned that theory is useful as a precise, highly skilled tool for academic work. Too much and you've obscured whatever it was you were looking at, not enough and you lack the instruments for dissection and critical analysis.
MY DREAMMMM. I was part of a little working group of labor organizers tryin to put together a plan to organize the dancers in the many clubs around the airport, but you need SO MUCH MUSCLE to keep from being disappeared by the still highly criminal elements that run a lot of them. we could not amass the army of teamsters needed for protection, so no dice, but it is still the great hope of my life.
Dudes, I love you. Your lives are intense.
