Born in the backwater town of Philadelphia during the glorious days of the Nixon Administration, Kimberly has gone through life with a passionate zest for things she can achieve while sitting down. She has lucked out completely by finding a job in an office and purchasing a comfy sofa. She reads a newspaper every day, as should you. Please. Thank you.

On TLC, Meant to Be

My GOD I was only 19 when Ain't Too Proud to Beg was released? I think I had MTV on all summer long that year, as it was my last year of babysitting as my summer job.

TLC's music should be required listening for all teen girls to show that sex can be talked about in a way that's funny, smart, safe and shameless.

Man I wish Lisa were still alive and the group was together. I think they'd have fun with this Blurred Lines nonsense.

On The Oldest Girls

So well-written! Loved it!

That said, every time I read a camp memoir, I'm so very happy my parents couldn't even afford to send me to day camp.

On I Fear I'll Be Stuck on Level 29 of Candy Crush Forever

I've played World of Warcraft for years, but I've had no bigger gaming thrill in YEARS than when I first combined the donut with a striped candy. Wait 'til you get to the chocolate levels.

On Please Continue Pronouncing "GIF" Any Way You Please

So weird ... I posted a gif up a ways and I can only see my own post if I'm logged in. Does anyone else have this problem?

On A Chat With The Hairpin's New Editor, Emma Carmichael

@allofthewine Yeah. I felt really dumb when I posted my reply (I was delayed in my posting because, well, work) and I saw that his post was deleted. At least I know it wasn't just me who saw it!

On A Chat With The Hairpin's New Editor, Emma Carmichael

@Choire Sicha@facebook Thanks for weighing in, Choire! It's not just Edith and Nicole: it's Jane (who pretty much left without writing a goodbye post), and Jolie who wrote more here than just the clean person column (at least she's still here in commments), and I haven't seen Esther W. in an age. There are many talented writers contributing now, but those women were voices that I recognized from the first paragraph and they each contributed something that seems missing now. Or maybe I'm an Old who is used to sites like BoingBoing and MetaFilter where the staff pretty much remained the same.

Welcome and best wishes Emma! I wish for you that you'd have taken over at another time, a time when everyone wasn't leaving. Because I feel badly seeing your arrival and immediately being all, NOOOO EDITH!!

On Ask the Non-Squalid

I'm petulantly not making my bed this week in protest.
