On [Maybe] Good Books That Defined You

@MBDC21 AAAAHHHH YES, The Doll's House! I had completely forgotten this, but it came rushing back as soon as I read your description. I looked at the book on Amazon and totally recognized the illustrations. The main doll character is called Tottie Plantangenet. Also, the mean doll is named Marchpane. I read SO MUCH as a kid, but I've forgotten many of the books I read in elementary school. Thanks so much for mentioning this and recalling it from the depths of my childhood!!

On Ass? Stella?

@petejayhawk OK, but when my Mom was substitute teaching, she totally had a little boy in her class named Derf, which was his father's name spelled backwards.

On Mad Men Season Five, Episode One

The entire opening scene of Y&R throwing water bombs happened VERBATIM in real life. Slate mentioned a NYT article on May 28, 1966, titled Poverty Pickets Get Paper-Bag Dousing On Madison Avenue, which includes the quote, "and they call us savages." Amazing.
