On Really Good Books About Real People: Part Four
@MEGA VENUTIAN SPACE SCORPION Yay, Kate Atkinson fans!!! Have you read Emotionally Weird? It's my favorite, and the first book of hers I read.
I avoided her crime novels for years and years because I'm not really a mystery fan, but I read them all earlier this year and really enjoyed them. I didn't have a problem with Jackson Brodie, but I prefer her female characters. Did you know there is a Jackson Brodie miniseries in England?

On Elderly Dogs and Babies: A Primer
Ha! So funny, and that last picture is squeezing my heart.
I'm worried about how one of my cats (my favorite) is going to take me having a baby. She meows to sit on my lap for morning cuddles, meows to get under the covers with me, and demands to make biscuits on my tummy almost every night. We're so bonded it's ridiculous.

I'm guessing all my friends are on the pill then! Thanks for letting me know about your systems, ladies!

I have a question about tampons and period supplies.
I have at least 4 friends who only use OB tampons, one size, and nothing else. How do they do it!?! I have two types of tampons, have to use a liner or I leak (how do you know when to change it?), and I use pads at night so I have a couple of sizes of those. Am I crazy? I feel like a period weirdo.

On This is a Safe Space to Talk About Your Dissertation
If all goes well I'll start writing my PhD diss next spring. I'm terrified because I have barely written anything in the past year (in my program we don't have to write an MA thesis). Ughhhhhhhhh.

@camanda I used to use shoeboxes too! A folded pair of undies fits a Converse box perfectly, so you have a nice little "file" of underwear. It's a bit neater than my bucket o' panties solution.

Fans of Pepys would be interested in Liza Picard's Restoration London: http://www.amazon.com/Restoration-London-Liza-Picard/dp/1842127306
She quotes from his diaries extensively, so it's almost as good as reading them plus you get them in context. I love Liza Picard!
