I got The Chaperone from a Kindle daily deal because it sounded interesting, and I ended up absolutely loving it. I got completely sucked into the story, into the time period, all of it. I had never heard of Orphan Trains before and I was so intrigued.
Thanks for the excellent interviews, AHP! I am definitely moving Laura Lamont's Life in Pictures up on my to-read list!
Sidenote: just watched The Door - SO GOOD.
So inspiring! I want to see all of her films now!
This has to be one of my favorite random Hairpin essays so far :D. Loved it!
Amazing. So glad he is still around for you <3.
Wonderful interview, as per usual!
@cashmere velvet candy cane I like the idea of adding the bananas in instead of eggs. Would add a really good flavor to the cake, too.
IMO raisins in carrot cake are never optional ;). And always get the golden raisins... SO GOOD. This cake sounds great! Thanks for sharing!
Really, really enjoyed this!!!!!!!!
Really, really enjoyed this piece. Especially, "You have a lot of Laura’s genes, you were raised to accentuate her tendencies. In some very real way, you have effectively brought your aunt back from the dead." SO INTERESTING & UNIQUE!
