On Never-Complainers, Workaholics, and the Balding-and-Manly

@candybeans Nope -- if he loves her as much as any human could love another human, he won't put his job first. He may love her as much as HE could love another human, but that just means that he's never going to love someone enough to put his job second.

On Never-Complainers, Workaholics, and the Balding-and-Manly

@WaityKatie Well, that's true to a certain extent, but not completely. The guy can push back on things (like his fucking WEDDING REHEARSAL, HELLOO), but has just chosen not to. Yes, big law firms will push you to work 24 hours a day if you can, but people can and do take time out for their families and for important things. It's one thing if he's working on a big case and there's an end point in sight, but if this guy just works 15 hour days every day including weekends then it's just how he is and wants to be, because work is his priority.

On "She likes Target, the Food Network and sun-dried tomatoes"

@anachronistique Surprise wedding makes it all cheaper! Because you're hiring caterers for your graduation party, and buying a CONGRATULATIONS cake for your graduation party, so they don't jack up the prices like they do for a wedding. Win/win.

On "She likes Target, the Food Network and sun-dried tomatoes"

I totally adore surprise weddings, so I really kind of love every single thing about this. Yay for them.

On Or, if You Live Elsewhere, on Your Dogsled?

@Daisy Razor Oh God, the boys with the mohawks! Even better than them is the story behind the photo. Love it.

On Conceptual Marriage Ceremonies for the Wedding-Averse

@sox Meg Cabot (writer, of Princess Diaries fame) eloped with her husband in Italy, and they faxed their families to tell them after the fact. They did it on April 1st, though, so both their families thought that they were joking. I love this.

On The Non-Monogamous Couple Returns

@Lila Fowler If you can see if you look at Hairpin posts, in just about every single post, there are people who say that they don't like whatever the post is talking about. In the coffee post there were tea drinkers, in the posts about kids there are people who never want to have kids, in the posts about makeup there are people who don't wear makeup. None of that is hijacking conversations, all of it is discussion about the posts. The Hairpin would be really boring if the comments agreed with one another (and the column/post authors) all the time. I'm not sure why the non-monogomy posts should be any different than everything else here.

On Friday Open Thread

@Cavendish That's me, OB regular all the way only. I'm on the pill, but have always been like that (I think I've used a super occasionally on the first two days, but only when I've had them because I had to buy the combo pack).
