@373756671@twitter I think the advent of the Toast combined with some of the editorial changes over the years killed the commenting culture, frankly. The tone of the site became more impersonal and there were fewer long form pieces, more "here's a link to a thing" with little or no commentary. I'm glad to see it's getting back on track because, like many, I miss the old Hairpin!
Well, this got awkward.
29 was kinda tumultuous and fucked up for me, but it was when I started figuring out a lot of stuff that made my 30s waaaay more awesome. The Saturn return can be a real bitch but worth it in the end.
I had a tumultuous relationship with Sassy over the years but man do I regret not keeping all my back issues now.
@enic It never occurred to me not to! For real?
Wait, you don't wear underwear with tights? But, but, that seam that runs down the middle...yikes!
@and it's not even my birthday I really like Marilyn Monroe: Her Life in Pictures. Not a biography in the traditional sense but more like a photoessay tracking her life from pre-fame to just before her death--each picture has a caption or story to go along with it. There are some really beautiful and lesser known images in it. Looks like it's out of print right now but available as an ebook or you might be able to find it at the library.
Oh my word, SWINTON as Auntie Mame would be unbelievably amazing. This must happen.
I like this month's way better than last. And as a Libra who did take a bit of a galactic beating last month I'm ready to believe.
On Teeth Dreams
I have never had this dream and I want to know what THAT means.
Sometimes the truth hurts.
