@MrsTeacherFace A fruit dehydrator! I know it will probably end up in the Graveyard of Under-utilized Appliances, but I have this vision of myself making lots of dehydrated apples to bring as a snack to go with my homemade cucumber water I'm not sure how to make to bring on invigorating wilderness hikes I think about but never go on.
Has anyone ever considered donating (or actually donated) eggs? It's something I've been thinking about. I don't mind doctors and the financial incentive is definitely a contributing factor.
@aphrabean That sounds brilliant! I've never tried it, but I love bourbon and I love ginger ale.
Side note: I tried making ginger ale once and it turned into a semi-alcoholic cesspool of unpalatable awfulness. Hints?
Has anyone ever dealt with parents/family being not cool with tattoos? I found out that the tattoo artist I want to use is moving across the country in November, so I need to make a decision soon. I'm ostensibly an adult and therefore feel ridiculous asking this, but I have a feeling that parent (dis)approval never really goes away.
@OhMyGoshYouGuys I wish you the best of luck! Those situations are never fun, but from what I heard, it's the right decision. And, although there will certainly be Difficult Times, I imagine it's going to be a huge relief.
Also: have fun on the east coast! It's beautiful out here!
@Rock and Roll Ken Doll I'm incredibly sad that I am not in Chicago.
@adorable-eggplant I'm terrified of budgeting, but I've heard from friends that the Mint app is very cool. It hooks up to your bank account and you can set savings goals. I might try it when my financial situation is less awful.
Happy weekend! I finally faced reality and went to a dermatologist! Has anyone used Differin (or whatever generic brand I'm using)? How long does it take to work, in your experience?
Has anyone out there had ptosis surgery for a an icky droopy eyelid? I've had it mildly since two eye surgeries in early 2012, but it recently got SO MUCH WORSE after my recent cataract surgery. :( And the worst part is that my doctor said it was likely caused by the local anesthetic block that was not medically necessary and that I didn't want to get. He pressured me into getting it. I would rather have had endured some weird they're-cutting-my-eye-open feelings for fifteen minutes than my current situation, which is trying to come up with several thousand dollars for an elective surgery that may not even work.
I'm disproportionately bummed about this. I never imagined I'd be in such a panic to get plastic surgery (not that there's anything wrong with plastic surgery, of course), but I don't look like myself. I just want to look like myself. I'm insecure enough without this, guys! Now I feel super uncomfortable just being around people. Gahhhh.
On the good news side: I'm working on maybe getting a tattoo soon!
@jenjenboben It was pretty bad, but I'm working on it.
