I'm going to add to mine:
- a bowl of grapes and sliced asian pears
- a few v chill parakeets flying around, assorted colors
- 1 beagle puppy, mostly asleep
- 1 paperback copy of The Outsiders
- a book of fairly-easy crossword puzzles and a really good pen

I think we nailed it, guys. I think we really did.

I LOVE HOSPITALITY RIDERS OMG. I think if I were a famous musician with the ability to make a LIST OF BACKSTAGE DEMANDS, I'd totally squander all potential for glamour and luxury and just request, like, a bunch of chips ahoy cookies & vanilla soy milk. And ribs. Hell of bbq ribs.

On Three Years of Gchats Trying to Convince My Best Friend to Like Drake

oh DUDE "HYFR" is the song and video that made a cautious-Drake-supporter out of me! so goooood why.

also, this is the story of my gchats with all of my friends. Except instead of Drake, it's k-pop. And it never works.

On "I don’t want her to wear her good nature like a gemstone, her body like an ornament"

@wallsdonotfall I don't know what kind of job you have, but I definitely sympathize. I work in a small office where any time I'm less than super-smiley, people are all, "WHAT'S WRONG ARE YOU OKAY." It's that same impulse that makes dudes on the street tell you to smile when your face is in Neutral. I'm sure you don't need me telling you this, but that is their problem, not yours at all. As someone whose first defense mechanism is often simpering, I envy your resolve.

On "I don’t want her to wear her good nature like a gemstone, her body like an ornament"

I am constantly gnashing my teeth over how much better my life would be if I hadn't grown up so goddamn fixated on being "nice." The upcoming generation of girls has a real shot of freedom from this, and Birdy is on a path of dopeness. I suspect that what seems "rude" on a little kid will mature into a self-assuredness that takes many grownass women (myself v much included) years to master.

On The Books of Our Childhood Summers

@Dancercise OH MY GODDDD THE ISLAND ADVENTURE. Two details from that I remember very prominently:
- Dawn prepared for the race by eating a giant bowl of pasta the night before, and that was a responsible, healthy choice for her to make.
- Jeff Schafer would have been just a bit older than me when I was reading those books and I was very seriously in love with him. Despite the fact that he had maybe four lines of legit dialogue. I remember thinking he was very, very brave during the scene with the storm.

The thing they would do where the chapters would open with HANDWRITTEN NOTES I just COULD NOT HANDLE IT.
