Extremely excited about this series.
On "The truth is, the ten or twenty minutes I was somebody’s mother were black magic": Ariel Levy's "Thanksgiving in Mongolia"
"I tried to think of something maternal I could do to convey to him that I was, in fact, his mother, and that I had the situation completely under control. I kissed his forehead and his skin felt like a silky frog’s on my mouth."
YES PLEASE AND THANK YOU
Now I can just print this out and hand it to people instead of having these conversations. Excellent.
@siniichulok It sounds like other people have chimed in with actual helpful advice, but I just wanted to say that what you're going through must be so hard, and it sounds like you're doing a really good job of dealing with it under very difficult circumstances.
Words. Delicious, delicious words
I checked Slate (LIKE A FOOL) when I got into work this morning, saw that headline, and decided to quit everything: my job, society, the planet.
@queenofbithynia Added to the list: nothing where the phrase "protest vomit" is relevant to my job (museum security guard, kindergarten teacher, etc)
@stuffisthings See also: manager of a nuclear power plant.
