English Girl living in a Canadian world (Calgary to be precise!). Grew up in Eastern Europe. And on a farm in England. Now living and working in Calgary, Canada and married to a lovely Canadian man (partly for a green card...but also because I love him!).
Change this to Christmas, parents moving to Romania from England and its the story of my life!
Thank you! :)
@mochi for most people I met in Prague they had their TEFL (teaching English as a foreign language) course, as English is only the 4th most spoken foreign language in the Czech Republic (After Slovakian, German, Russian and Polish), so lots of opportunity to teach it, especially to young kids.
I got lucky because I grew up in Romania and knew people who knew people who got me a job there (doing HR for a media company).
Try Expats.cz which is a Czech website for foreigners has everything from houses to jobs and restaurant reviews. There are similar ones for all European countries.
Hope this helps!
I lived and worked in Prague for 10 months without knowing anyone going there. Best 10 months of my life so far.
Makes me want to do something like that again!
Sorry, just saw this on bbc.com:
Friday's city council vote is the latest blow for 44-year-old Mr Ford, who last week admitted smoking crack cocaine, and this week admitted in a city council hearing that he had bought illegal drugs within the last two years.
Investigation documents released on Wednesday quoted Ford associates as saying that the mayor had driven drunk, used racially abusive language, threatened staff, consorted with a woman suspected of working as a prostitute and made a sexual proposition to a female staff member.
Jeez what a mess.
@greyeminence I live in Calgary, who has a very nice mayor, who happens to be muslim too (huge deal for cowboy country Calgary). I feel very lucky.
Also when I was in Seattle my friends and I started talking to a group of locals. One local guy stopped the conversation and just said 'hang on! I thought Canadians were meant to be nice?!'. Haven't laughed that hard in a long long time!
@harebell I was thinking exactly the same thing about the funeral homes!! Firstly, they are just cruel and secondly (and I'm not trying to be mean) but why would they turn down legitimate business? because they don't want to be associated with her "termination"? Who would know? They could just say the child died after birth or was born stillborn....
I just don't get it. I guess growing up in the UK and now living in Canada where there is free healthcare, very easy (and free!) access to birth control and "planned parenthood" type services doesn't give me the right to judge. But I feel very lucky I won't ever have to go through what Jessica and Erick Davis did. :(
This makes me so sad and also very angry.
I love America, but c'mon guys!! This woman deserved some respect and she got none. :(
@meetapossum ditto a hundred times over. Thank goodness most people don't like them because whenever they pick them off of their pizza I get a nice pile of olives on my plate!
@rangiferina my first words I ever learnt in Spanish were "aceitunas por favor" which means Olives please. Spanish olives are amazing! Best to start on olives when you are young(I must have been 6 months old?), it is an aquired taste.
@Trilby She does! If the picture is of her in the yellow dress in the article then she looks beautiful modelling ladies clothing as well as mens!
I just think there should be a distinction between "male" model and "menswear" model, heck I could be a menswear model! (If I wasn't 5 Foot 2, have E cup boobs and be 15 pounds overweight!)
