On Teaching Trayvon

@hallelujah This is America. If you are on the street for any reason other than shopping or commuting, you are rioting.

On My Brother, My Mother, and a Call Girl

I'd rather not judge the mother the disabled guy, but for all of us who are in the mood to judge someone, I'd like to point out a great target: the guy "who occasionally gave Danny rides to school" (and apparently never talked to *him* about sex) who asked the mother if her dead son ever "got some"! Can someone please explain to me how was *that* piece of intrusion supposed to help the disabled (and now dead) man? I think it's a nice illustration of the real issue here.

On Places Where Single Women Are Encouraged to Seek "The One," and to Which I've Gone, Dutifully, to Befriend No One But Likeminded Women

@TARDIStime "more direct" = "less passive aggressive". But yeah.. to each his own!

@babs Wouldn't it be "less wordy" to just ask for his number?

Note to our friends: you may need to find a new trick to get us to hit the gym (or the bookstore).

On Can We Still Be Friends?

Last night, after my weekly soccer game, I went out with some of the guys and talked about politics, economy, and life in New York over a couple of beers. I think someone should be paid to do a study to show that if you can talk to someone and have a beer with them, you can't just play soccer with them. Sooner or later you'll end up having that beer and that talk, and then it will no longer be "just soccer". Am I right, or am I right?

On Jealousy Mutations and the 2.5 Days Game

@dotcommie You know, yeah, girls are people and it's cool and then I get to know the girl better, which is also cool, and I never act creepy, I never "make a move" or anything, and neither does she... and precisely because of that she and I start admiring each other more and more, until... love just happens... and that's cool too! And then my "old girlfriend" notices, and suffers, and things between us end miserably, and hey...that's cool too!

If you are 23 that is. When you are 43, and have a small child, you know better than being cool.

On The Four White Girls of the Apocalypse

@sleepypeaches And neither does the writer.

On The Four White Girls of the Apocalypse

@sleepypeaches Yeah, but the other characters weren't there when Dunham character was acting stupid with guys, yet those issues got discussed and she got told later on. No such thing happened with this scene.

On The Four White Girls of the Apocalypse

@sleepypeaches No way. Where was the scene where other characters give her a slap in the face for that, just like they give each other for when they are being naive about sex, love, and office work?
