I lost my cousin to cancer two years ago. We were 3 months apart and very close. Stories like this are important, it's ridiculous to see depictions of cancer and terminal illnesses in film/tv, all soft-focus and full of tender and eloquent last words, when the reality is tedious, complicated, heartbreaking and ugly. There is always good stuff though - and not just the things that came before illness - I still laugh at the morbid jokes we made. Thanks for this though, truly.
It's natural to read this as clever commentary about our crazy modern times, until you're sitting at a bar and in comes Edith, hauling a small but heavy dude.

@Jinxie @fabel Thirded.
Also, I'm kinda rolling my eyes at the humble-bragging and faux-surprise of the folks who just can't believe that someone wouldn't have a tool set or know how to use tools. Some people don't, and that's fine.

@Inkcrafter Plenty of good writers write only based on their experiences-they just aren't scrutinized against a backdrop of disturbingly all-white media. I think it would be worse if she tried to write for black characters based on what she'd "heard" about black people.
I do not want to talk about this show anymore. Tell me about the last animal you petted instead.

@bitzyboozer Does it help to know that it is approximately one million times better than ANTM? And that Ru does Tyra better than Tyra does herself?
OMG, I always have sex with a foreign national.
And now you're telling me there's paperwork?!?
@Decca I don't know what to say other than IT IS SO GOOD. It is beautiful and interesting (and ridiculous) and well done and, and, and they are pretty and handsome and horrible and lovable and infuriating, and the house is so gorgeous and the grass is so green, and servants and dresses and bitchery and sisters and velvet and marriages and terseness, and Maggie Smith AND AND AND
