I just want to say that you said it so much better than I ever could. Especially this paragraph:
It took me weeks to tell anyone what had happened that night. It took me months to tell anyone that the next morning, in a fog, I’d let him pick me up in his car and take me out for lunch. I felt like these were the details that proved what I’d always known – that the whole thing was my fault in the first place. What kind of a victim lets her attacker buy her a veggie burger?
It happened to me, too; he was a peer not a professor and took me to the airport the next morning. I just wanted to say. It happened to me too.
I too was a DQ gal! We only served ice cream, plus, mysteriously, chili dogs. (Whenever someone ordered one of those, I lied and said we were out. Seriously people, Chipotle is next door, go there.) You described the absolute filthiness of your post-shift red polo soooo well (and the adolescent compulsion to eat as much "ice cream" as humanly possible). $5.15 an hour never looked so good.
Yes yes YES! I have been a (mildly obsessive) Grey's fan since its very first season. Netflix streaming changed my life; I have seen every season at least twice.
I love the Meredith-and-Derek-balance-parenting-and-high-powered-careers storyline. Grey's has grown up so much in a way that Scandal doesn't seem like it possibly could.
Why now? I do not understand.
I simultaneously love this and disagree strongly with it. Good one, Jia!
So many quibbles! I knew I should have googled before quibbling!!! Thanks yall.
Loved this! Go Wendy!
Also, small quibble, George H.W. Bush was elected in 1994, not W.
@sjöhäxa get an IUD!!!
@harebell Wow, I can't believe your doc was like "it'll be fine!" I have a close friend with Factor V Leiden (homozygous, maybe you have hetero) and when her doc found out she was like STOP THE PILLS THIS VERY INSTANT! But she was diagnosed due to an enormous blood clot, so. Glad you're okay and I'm sorry about your parent!
I am partial to the 2007 one, perhaps because I graduated high school and started college that year. Nostalgia!
