@mrsnurse I'm sorry about the disastrous trip - I hope both you and the dog are all right. I've been doing the cat owners' version of adventures in the wilderness, which involves sitting on the living room couch and looking at my cats while they sleep. I've also been doing a lot of work so far because things keep coming up, which is not how I'd envisioned my staycation! My husband is encouraging me to go to museums during weekdays when it's less crowded, but that only works if you're pro-museum and in a place that has them.

My main successful concoction so far has been a deodorant with jojoba oil/coconut oil/shea butter/baking powder/cornstarch/essential oils (inspired by running out of the Soapwalla stuff). Otherwise, I've just been putting oil on my face (tamanu mixed with jojoba is my fave, but expensive) and having misguided adventures with apple cider vinegar clay masks. I might try to make homemade lip balm soon, but the recipe I tried last (coconut oil + beeswax) doesn't work so well. It does work to condition leather boots and wooden cutting boards and spoons, though!

@rosinator Yes! Cleaning the kitchen was Step 1 toward that more exciting activity. I'm hoping to get back into bread baking, too!

@victorian rose That, and having a numb face for a day! (Maybe my AVC has gone bad?)

@Spice&Snails&PuppyDogTails Yeah, it's a problematic dynamic in the books too but I thiiiink in a more self-aware way? But that scene was just white savior complex/brown people as exotic background objects distilled to its pure essence. I don't understand how anyone could read it and permit it to go into production either! It reminded me of those terrible Anthropologie catalogs.

@meetapossum I have to go back and find out what you're referring to! For some reason this whole season I thought we were going to get THREE weddings this season and only realized right before the finale that it wasn't going to happen. I had gotten my non-book-reading husband all pumped up for something good to finally happen, too! (Hope that wasn't too spoilery...)

@I Want To Go To There @planforamiracle Awesome! I have an appointment for a consultation about getting an IUD next week. I'm excited, but still not totally decided. Keep us posted on how you like it!

I'm just starting my post-work, pre-grad school summer staycation (except for a bit of work left in July) and I don't know what to do with myself! So far, I have been doing the following:

-cleaning my filthy kitchen
-concocting homemade natural skincare products (shockingly, my homemade deodorant actually works! but I will never put apple cider vinegar on my face EVER AGAIN)
-posting on the FOT for the first time ever

Anyone have more ideas?!

On Close-Reading a Controversial List, Take 2

@robotosaur Haha yes, that helps. I am most worried about Jaime, but will choose to ignore it like @Megasus.

OK guys, I have a question about the butts. At first I was very pleased by the perfection of all of them, but then it occurred to me that the actors might be using butt doubles. So maybe that's not Jaime Lannister's butt at all! Should I be worried about this? Am I cruel for planting this seed of doubt in your minds?

On Checking in With Eggs

@TheLetterL Pretty sure it means that if I forget to eat eggs for a little while (hard to imagine, but cereal is tasty too!), I can then default back to 2-3 a day and pretend it all averages out.
