*waves* Such a lovely bunch of people here. I've been lurking for a while and will likely continue to do so. I like German microphones, Irish Whiskey and short walks on the beach.
@truelove "unabashedly smart and gross and queer-er" <---This. And real. It used to just feel so real and true.
It looks like an Echeveria 'Black Prince' so I think it should have some kind of ridiculous male model name - like Fabio or Adonis or Baptiste or Adolpho. Or all of those.
My plants are named:
Love (aloe vera);
the Janices (three separate jade plants that used to be one);
Roberta (rubber tree plant);
Mike, Vyvyan, Neil, and Rik (graptosedums/succulents - I had a lil one named Special Patrol Group but it died);
Topsy (Echeveria 'topsy turvy' I WAS OUT OF IDEAS THAT DAY);
and Jimbles (jellybean plant).
I bought a pothos vine the other day but I haven't named it yet. Bartok maybe??
@MandyMcAwesome thirded. this site was my lifeblood for almost 4 years? maybe i just liked the writing edith & nicole did better? maybe i'm just older now? maybe some combination? but now its the toast that usually hits me hardest. i know you guys are trying so hard, but this place used to be unabashedly smart and gross and queer-er and i miss that a lot. we are veering too hard into jezebel here.
Ok. I can’t hold it in any longer. If you want to know why The Hairpin has had declining readership it is because of THIS. Are you completely out of content? So much so that you now have to resort to photographing your drinks with a phone and then just add clever remarks? It’s not like this resulted in something profound, like Richard Lawson’s “How to Plan for a Better Spring” from 2012, which had me in tears at work. Where are the stories that stuck with me and ushered me into womanhood (even though I was almost 30)? The 6 part column on Scientology was so insightful. Your advice columns from a married dude and a queer chick were great because they showed us that many of the issues people face are universal.
I don’t know. Maybe I have just outgrown this site, which makes me feel sad. I still see a glimpse of the old Hairpin that I loved, but it is so overcrowded with random, inconsistent content that I have simply stopped visiting this site regularly.
Or maybe the real essence of Snackwave was with us all along...
I track my cycle on paper in my calendar, because I prefer to party like it's the last century.
This is really interesting. You are very pretty and have nice thick hair, but I have to say, the after pic is not selling me on this.
1) I am really really tempted to finally try this.
2) I remember that earlier post. HOW WAS IT NEARLY THREE YEARS AGO?! where does the time go, etc.
Okay so I love Benedict Cumberbatch and R. Kelly is a foul pedophile but I'm still pretty HMMMMM about this thing of Jimmy Kimmel's where he makes a joke of things that black people write, just without commentary, like literally the punchline is "look how funny it is that a person wrote this". I'm not a frequent watcher, so maybe someone can tell me: does he ever do the "this thing is so not classy look how funny it is when I have a classy white person make it classy" thing with non-POC?
