On Reading Your Way Through the Stomach Flu

Oh, man, I LOVED the McDonald Hall books so, so, so much.

This reminded me though that I wanted to thank you, Nicole. I had mono over the summer and while lying in a feverish lump on the couch came across your SERIOUSLY DELIGHTFUL Classic Trash review of Riders, which I had never read and which sent me off on a couchbound Jilly Cooper odyssey. By the time I'd gotten through the collected Rupert Campbell-Black novels I felt much better. So thank you for that! Norovirus is THE WORST. I hope you are feeling much better soon.

On Scandals of Classic Hollywood: In Like Errol Flynn

I practically never comment on anything, but I had to emerge to say MAN do I love this series. AHP, your writing is WONDERFUL and you choose the BEST pictures and every one of these is absolutely fascinating.

On Name That Book!

@anne_ecdote I am like 97% sure it did have the Bass Weejuns, or else we both ALSO read another book that did because that sounds super familiar although I don't have the faintest idea now what they WERE. Shoes? I don't remember the fruit loops though.

On Name That Book!

@momnivore This is the same series from the very beginning of this thread - the Thirteen, Fourteen and Holding, etc. books by Candice Ransom. I also vividly remembered the madras plaid.

@Better to Eat You With Stranger with My Face! That one STILL haunts me.
