On Sometimes State Flags...

@whoaisme a lot of things about Ohio are whack but our flag is certainly not one of them

On Get This Kay Jewelers Commercial Out My Face

So I thought this commercial was another Kay jem (PUNS) and I wanted to share it but then I rewatched it and it's honest to god not for jewelry but for FANCY FEAST:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgZffl-a6WI

(Still pretty epic though)

My boyfriend and I used to have a whole banter about how he was going to buy me a necklace that was made out of the heart necklaces just so it was awful enough for me but now we've seen the commercial so many times it's just an active, hateful yelling at the TV.

On Ask a Glutton: I Need to Trick Everyone Into Thinking I'm an Adult This Thanksgiving

@Elle Marie@twitter Seconded - make those mashed potatoes the night before (tonight!) too, pop 'em in a casserole, and then put them in the oven once the turkey comes out. I make mine w/ loads of butter and cream cheese and then thin them with a touch of milk, so when you pop them in the oven they puff up just a bit like some kind of magical mashed potato souffle and all the lumps seem to melt away.

Seconded on the stuffing too - once for sanity, second for health reasons especially if you're new to the turkey game - you don't want uncooked turkey juice on your stuffing that could make people sick.

Cook it on the side, and have it close at hand to stuff bites in your face in between gulps of wine so you don't get too drunk (just me? anyone? Stuffing is the centerpiece of my meal. Forget the turkey all together.)

On You, Too, Can Make a Horrifying Cartoon Turkey Cake

@lucy snowe the googly eyes really made it for me. And by made it, I mean made me snort inappropriately at my desk for a good 5 minutes.

On I'll Have a Hoagie and a Soderpop

@upupandaway I know some people call them verges, tree lawns, etc. - but the very specific part of Ohio I'm from calls them Devil's Strips! I have no idea why, but it made for very scary games of tag/capture the flag as a little kid.

On I'll Have a Hoagie and a Soderpop

My personal favorite: What do you call the section of grass between the sidewalk and the street?

On Friday Open Thread

@celeec4@twitter bought a refurbished 3DS for a great deal through Nintendo, but it took 2 weeks to get here. So now I'm shuffling back to give out my friend code because I'm finally playing! Somehow I've managed 15 hours of gameplay and only have one badge? Pokemon Amie, man. All my pokemon must love me.

Obviously haven't made it very far so I don't know what's in my Friend Safari yet but I do have Modern Vivillon so if you'd like one let me know!

I'll add you tonight once I have wifi!

On Neko Case's Tiny Desk Concert

Totally revealing my IRL self on here to any of my friends but I WAS AT THIS SHOW -- some friends of mine got me in last minute on a long weekend trip to DC and she was so lovely and funny and the whole NPR Tiny Desk experience is great and if you're ever in DC try and get tickets somehow, even if it's not an artist you know or love - because it's very intimate and a fun thing to do.

(Also I'm in this video!! Agh!! I think this is the closest I'll ever get to internet fame and I am great with that.)
