On Friday Bargain Bin: Now That We've All Made Our Beds

@heyits Since you are curly, you might want to have slightly damp hair. And yeah, I would put probably some kind of smoothing serum on it. This will, of course, mean you'll blow dry it a little longer. I put a diffuser on my dryer so it's easier on the hair.

Oh, and make sure your hair is alllll the way cool before taking them out. Like, do your makeup and stuff while it's cooling.

On Friday Bargain Bin: Now That We've All Made Our Beds

@redheaded&crazie If anybody would get these babies tangled, it would be me! And I have really long hair, too. Maybe it's just better quality velcro or something, but I haven't had a problem. I've been giving them as gifts to friends, that's how much I love them.

@Nina B.@twitter I've found that those kinds of curlers can be unpredictable. Most curls come out great but then you have this one dud that's just kinda kinky?

Something I love to use: thermal velcro rollers (they have tons at Ulta). They are so easy and awesome, and the volume is unbelievable.

Put a few in, blast your head with your blowdryer for a minute, let them cool off, and that's it. LOVE.

On Beauty Q&A: Too Many Choices

@Quinn A@twitter @The Lady of Shalott I think you've gotta have a good set of brushes. Then you've gotta take just a leeeetle bit of the bright color and tap-tap-tap it on your lid. Then tap a little more. Build up the color slowly. THEN take a clean brush and BLEND the edges with tiny buffing strokes. Almost anyone can get away with bright colors!

On A Civil War Love Story

My first love, at 15, was very intense. He spent a summer in Germany and we wrote such passionate letters like these.

But I got older and I got hurt and I learned not to love so hard. Or to share my feelings so openly. This change is a common aspect of life, but a regrettable one.

On Down to You

@SarahP Apples to Apples is really fun to play at the END of the party, when everyone is drunk and only a few core people of the group are left. It's a nice way to bond with people and wind down the night.

On Down to You

@annepersand Gurl, I'm in my late thirties and I still work myself out within the contexts of other people. Please be proud of yourself for even being aware of it, cuz it took me like 15 years to see it?

But I've thought about it a lot, and I don't know that it's 100% a bad thing. Being motivated by someone else to be a better person may be sort of natural, and beautiful in a way. As long as we continue to learn to love ourselves, etc.
