@Rock and Roll Ken Doll yeahhhhhhhh it's gonna be bad. AND I have an out-of-town guest all next week (not a euphemism for my period) and I'm stymied as to what to do to beat the heat except nonstop paletas and soaks in the lake.
Looks like a heat wave is heading for Chicago, so I will be battening down the hatches with popsicles and chocolate pudding pie. Also on the weekend agenda: picking currants and blackberries. Related: does anyone in Chicago know of any abandoned/semi-public plum trees? I have been on the hunt, but have not seen any.
@oh! valencia ohhhhhhhh
@Amphora Yup. Don't be scared of them! And don't be fooled by the creepy spiderman and hello kitty popsicles advertised on the carts, they probably have the goods, too (coconut! mango! spicy mango! spicy cucumber! tamarind! cookies and cream! ahhhhhhhh now I need a paleta!)
YUM. Thanks for the recipes.
But.... If you are in Chicago, you have no excuse to not be hitting up any of several great mexican paleterias, my favorite being Monarca. Arroz y canella paleta ftw!
@panther I really like working to Snap Judgment, which to me feels like a cross between the Moth and TAL
had to work all weekend last week, so felt super fatigued going into this week, but now tomorrow's off, so my body/mind thinks it's Friday, and basically I feel like a hot mess. Juneberries are ON so I'm baking pies and otherwise avoiding my normally peaceful local beach, because it's sure to be a shit show. Chicago neighborhood fireworks: no thank you
@royaljunk we're waiting for the scratch, scratch, scratch!
@iceberg all the hugs, mama
@megeliza don't forget your lipgloss! and good luck!
