@liverwortlaura Is this the summer's way of punishing me for thinking "Oh, maybe you're not so bad, July. I'd quite like it if you stayed like this"?

Because, seriously, I hadn't checked the weather and now there's a damper on my day...

@liverwortlaura my internship's garden is just getting the cherries in, and we do have ornamental plums falling off but I think we deduced they are not eating. also protip: lots of free raspberries at Garfield Park Conservatory along the outside of the fence! also shameless promotion of the 61st Street Farmer's Market!

also heat? nooooooo.

@liverwortlaura Or at the very least the paleta men who outnumber ice cream trucks 5 to 1 in this town (somehow I deleted my comment, oops)

YUM. Thanks for the recipes.
But.... If you are in Chicago, you have no excuse to not be hitting up any of several great mexican paleterias, my favorite being Monarca. Arroz y canella paleta ftw!

@A. Louise I definitely did this for a 4th of July event our first year in America, wearing red white & blue & feeling slyly smug for being so adorable, and then turned up and fucking everyone was wearing stars & stripes & eagles and shit. So bummed.

Is anyone else devastated that TCM isn't showing 1776 until the middle of the night this year?

By Josh is like Germany Ambitious and Misunderstood on What Is Your Personal Garbage Music?

ugh ugh ugh im breaking my self imposed hairpin comment exile to say i hate the concept of 'garbage music vs bad music' bc i hate the idea of ppl being ashamed of the things they like and half-denouncing it as a means to gain cultural capital. its a recipe for unhappiness and shame. if u like that FOB cover, then like it! art is subjective! u can talk about the things u enjoy and criticize the things u dont in equal turn without dismissing it outright!

(oh and Hatesong is like 95% of the time white bro punk dudes hating on pop music and its wack as hell)

ok bye

This is great! I don't think I actually want that extension (I am already too easily distracted on the internet) but it's awesome that stuff like this exists.

This extension, however, has only given me joy.

Browser extensions are such a dream for bending the internet to your will. This is probably my favorite at the moment, although automatically replacing all instances of "right now" with "right meow" was also a good decision.
