The best is Em from the Harvey Girls! She's a fabulous dresser, great singer, and a sassy, independent career woman who doesn't get hung up on a man. She knows when to cut her losses and take care of herself. To wit:
I'm not sure about the "get this look" post, though. It might be a bit difficult to get this particular look, but I'd love to try. (Really, why pass up a reason to wear gold lame?) Maybe the antique jewelry author can help us out.
Quebec needs money. It has to come from somewhere. Students are paying a tiny, tiny fraction of their education (believe it or not, at a state school in the U.S. you are too) and the $1,625 hike is being raised over 7 years, as has been pointed out above. Students aren't exempt from doing their part. That the original article omitted tuition numbers undercuts its entire argument.
And yes, the protesters (who are a minority of students) are willing to tear apart their province and cost millions to save a couple grand. The worst offense to me is that some have gone onto campuses to disrupt classes. This is a planned tactic! They're actively keeping others from the education they paid for! There's a lot of fear that this semester will be down the drain for many students in the province. The protesters are also refusing to negotiate in good faith or respect the rights of others.
Yes, the new law is egregious and indefensible and deserves to die a swift death. But that's not the same thing as saying the protesters are right. I really want to tell them to grow up.
@iceberg Bleachie! Mom swears by it for all your child-rearing needs. She says white is actually the best, since you can just throw a load in with bleach and it'll all come out. (After all, they won't be wearing the clothes for more than a couple months before they outgrow them.) Even for something like shorts I'd just bleach them.
Anachronistique: my Mom would also insist on a slip for your skirt. At least it wouldn't matter what underwear you were wearing!
I'd recommend Anthony Hope's Prisoner of Zenda and the sequel, Rupert of Hentzau. He's the villain, but also my favoritest(everyone loves a bad boy!) and also kind of right. There's doomed romance, intrigue, foreign climes, a throne at stake...all the things we look for in a novel! I also second trashy romances. A good Regency is a lot of fun, and if you don't have time to really dig into a long novel, they're perfect.
I also have to share this with you:
