On The Hobbit, Reviewed, Perfectly

As long as you assume this movie was an AU Hobbit fanfic it wasn't that terrible to see. And I actually liked all the elf action, I just hated most everything else.

On Internet Work and Invisible Labor: An Interview With NPR's Linda Holmes

Gah! I love this series! AHP! Linda Holmes! This is timed so perfectly with my snow day and seeing a live taping of her podcast tonight! Now I want more crossovers with the 'Pin and PCHH.

@RK Fire Oegadgib is awesome! My husband is from NoVa so he introduced me to the glory that is all you can eat Korean BBQ. But I still say Maryland is better. And he won't say it, but now that he lives in Maryland I'm pretty sure he thinks so too. I mean, politics alone, riiight? And yes, our history is just as plentiful, it's just Virginia's is all showy and shit.

@everyone Thank you all for the support and advice and good vibes! Ya'll helped me feel so much better about my shitty week! And the haircut is awesome so I think my terrible week is officially over.

@squishycat Yeah, being an only child I kinda treated her like my little sister. But it was such an agonizing decision and in the end I'm glad she's at peace because she was clearly in pain.

@Briar I wish I had stairs! I do like the stair stretch, I'll have to remember to do it surreptitiously in the stairways at work.

@PistolPackinMama I hope that's the case! It actually got much better while I was sick a few weeks ago, so I'm hoping it's getting better and my body just hasn't told me yet. But I hate being patient. I feel like if it's your body it should tell you what it's doing at all times. No weird surprises!

@harebell That spa idea sounds fabulous! I will have to look into that.

@RK Fire No, I think you've got Northern Virginia pretty well cornered (I may be biased because I'm from Maryland). Unless you like history? Because there's lots of that! But it's mostly the food.

@I Want To Go To There I don't have any particularly helpful advice. But speaking as someone who works at a poor institution we would LOVE to get some emails like that.

Also, now that I'm thinking about it, I totally did that in grad school and out of like 5 emails I got one response, but I only needed one! Do they have a volunteer application you could submit? Otherwise I think a resume and cover letter is pretty standard.

@yeah-elle I have had similar conversations with my brain about many things. One time I decided to return some ankle boots I didn't really need. And then I found out they were 50% off so I returned them and bought the same exact pair at the discounted price. Then my brain shut up because it likes a deal.

@Beaker That medieval wedding sounds awesome! One of my friends got invited to a wedding that's got a costume dress code. She asked the bride what that meant and she said "like fairy princesses." Not sure how that applies to men...

This week was absolute shit. I had to put my almost 22 year old cat to sleep. This is the cat I got when I was 5, like, before I could read. Which happened on top of an already meh week which involved a broken computer, car issues, a newly discovered cavity, cockroaches, and preparing to move. All of this shit is making me really nervous about the pixie cut I scheduled tonight at a totally new salon. I need some good mojo.

Also, I've been living in terror of my body breaking down right before I go on a 3 week European vacation/honeymoon in October and now it's come true. I have plantar fasciitis and it's not going away. It's not bad, probably the pro sufferers would mock my pain, but I've done the European vacation with foot pain thing before and it is NOT fun. My podiatrist said I was doing everything right, but it's barely getting better. I'm doing stretches, I'm resting, I'm icing for 30 minutes a day and wearing good shoes and trying not to walk barefoot. I even got a damn night splint, which I think just makes things worse. Does anyone have any advice for dealing with this? Am I just being impatient? Is there a secret? Or is the secret just time?

On Nice to Meet You, Internet

I'm into reading about violent historical events, baking, cats, and talking to my dental hygienist about knitting.

I refuse to give Bustle my clicks, but I am strangely attracted to the name. I've loved bustles since I found out why Cinderella's stepsisters had such big butts!
