On We Did It!
Speaking of (much sillier) fake wars, is anyone else really looking forward to Saints Row 4 next week? It's basically GTA mashed up with Mass Effect and the Matrix, with lots more panda suits and dick jokes and a gun with shoots dubstep and strangely progressive gender roles. To be relevant to the post, I'm pretty sure they make fun of CoD at some point too.
Man, more shooters need to be actually funny.
@commanderbanana Yes, agreed.
@klemay While knowledge that words like "lame" and "crazy" are ableist and hurtful is becoming more and more widespread, I think a lot of people just don't know this. The author, particularly if she's older, may just have never thought about this at all before. I certainly didn't know those words could be considered hurtful until I had done a lot of reading in the feminist blogosphere.
On Damon Lindelof on 'Story Gravity': "Once you spend more than $100 million, you have to save the world"
Dude. You helped ruin Lost. You were at least in part responsible for how badly Prometheus sucked. And you were complicit in somehow making the new Star Trek both boring and sexist. Please go away and stop ruining things I love with your overly-complicated-yet-utterly-empty writing.
Well, at least Star Wars is already ruined.
@kfizz Yes, agreed. There are some *incredibly* important conversations society needs to have about how patriarchy hurts men too. Hugo Schwyzer just went about those conversations in pretty much exactly the wrong way.
Man, between this asshole and Phil Fish, this is apparently the week for unpleasant white dudes to quit the internet / TAKE THEIR BALL AND GO HOME.
As someone who uses "woman problem" to euphemistically refer to her, er, monthly woman problem, ifyouknowwhatimean, this is somehow even more hilarious.
(I MEAN THE NEW YORK TIMES IS ON ITS PERIOD.)
@celeec4@twitter Booze good! Yes booze! *Smashes her compute screen! Instantly regrets it. D:*
@celeec4@twitter You've got my sympathies! Man, why does life have to be so hard?
And why can't real science be like videogame science - crazy in a fun way, as opposed to crazy in a demoralizing, soul-crushing way? *Pounds on her code a few times before falling over in a fetal position.*
@adorable-eggplant Also Mako is an amazing nonsexualized actually strong female character and Charlie Day plays Scientist Charlie Kelly and there is Ron Perlman and also GLaDOS was there and and and - *hyperventilates.*
