On Thoughts Upon Receiving a Ludicrously Enormous Tip

And this was in a country where the normal tipping percentage is 0%.

On Thoughts Upon Receiving a Ludicrously Enormous Tip

My sister used to work at a sandwich place at an international airport, and sometimes people would give her like a 500% tip just to get rid of their foreign currency. All staff had to pool the tips, though, because they weren't so much related to the service but to whatever customers happened to have left in their wallets.

On Affection, Gift Returns, and Professors on Facebook

@Megoon Yes, you can indeed. I have mine only visible to people that I would be okay with getting chat messages from at all hours. (Which is not necessarily even my closest friends, because some of them are WAY too talkative sometimes...)

So person number 3 - turn off chat visibility for the professor. Done.

On Eleven Days Alone In: Paris

I love travelling alone. The first time I was in New York, like the very first minute after I stepped out of the subway, someone asked me where Time Square was. I happened to have looked on a map just before that, so I knew where I was, and where Times Square was relative to that, so I confidently pointed them in the right direction, and I felt like a LOCAL. (Even though I know you locals don't actually go within walking distance from Times Square. But the OTHER tourists thought I was a local, and that's what matters.)

On I Could Totally Walk 20 Km

I did this earlier this week, and got a taekwondo guy. A guy! I'm the size of a guy! I don't like this game. :|

On How Ya Been, Pin Pals?

I missed the earlier call for Pin Pals! Work, you guys, so evil sometimes... I did just sign up, but I fear I might also be that person who has long periods of inactivity. But I am good at mailing fun things. I just mailed my sister a giraffe. (Okay, it was a tiny nanoblock giraffe that she even had to assemble herself, but it was still fun.)

On What We Will Be Playing in the London Games

@cmcm I did rhythmic gymnastics when I was a teenager, because we happened to live in the rhythmic gymnastics capital of the country, or something. I started out doing it as "amateur", but because they *had* a competition team they picked its members from the amateurs and that's how these things happen. If I'd joined an after school gymnastics club in another town I would have outgrown it much sooner.

On The League of Ordinary Ladies: Code Name Dolphin Capricorn

@Euglena I will ask others where the bathroom is (but usually after they've been), even if I can perfectly well find it myself. It's a sort of conversation topic, I guess. Or maybe I think it's a politer way of saying "I am going to go to the bathroom now." I don't even know....

On My Recent Life According to My Yelp.com Reviews

@roughe It's not even just Yelp. I'm going to an AirBnB soon that got 5 stars from everyone, EXCEPT from one person who wrote this long whiny rant about how there were no supplies in the bathroom...? No, dude, you bring your *own* supplies. What did you expect, the Hilton?

On How to Cope With a Break-Up

@EggsErroneous I just had to re-listen to the job interview thing. "I mean, the parking lot *is* outside of the grocery store. I just want to clarify that."
