@Bittersweet Dark 'n' stormies! Of course! Jolie would be mad at me for forgetting the old Stark and Dormy.

Cocktail crowdsourcing pls!

I am staying at the Boatel this weekend! Any suggestions for boaty-themed drinks that can be made with no electricity, limited mixers, and bag ice? Part of me is going "suck it up and drink whisky" but... but... boat drinks!

On Beauty Q&A: ID Photos, Gaudy Shoes, and Looking 10 Years Younger

@Astroix I put a little bit of translucent powder under my lower lashline, originally to keep my dark-circle coverup from collecting in fine, squinty lines, but it seems to cut down on mascara transfer too.

Jaaane. Was that your Halloween costume or did you just dress up as an old lady for fun sometimes?

I used to dress up as an old lady when I was planning on going and stealing a couple of flowers out of my neighbors' yards, with the rationale that nobody would get mad at a grandmother for doing that, just go "oh, look at that old lady, stealing our flowers, that's cool".

On This is a Safe Space to Talk About Your Dissertation

When writing my dissertation, the only stuff I had to come up with de novo (as opposed to literature review/writing about data) was this massive introduction on Cancer In General. This got boring quickly, and to amuse myself I added some silly sentences that I planned to delete. Before submitting a first draft, I did not, however, edit out a sentence very like:

Cancer is not only a multigenic and phenotypically diverse disease, it is one that derives from our very own cells, making it akin not just to a many-headed hydra, but to a many-headed hydra that is attached to your butt.

@weebling I do. It definitely makes my nails stronger and fast-growing, but N.B.: it does the same to your toenails. Which is completely obvious once you think about it but I definitely had a "all of the feets of all of my tights are shredded and I just trimmed my toe-talons last weekend whyyyy?" moment.

@chnellociraptor If you are into food, you could check out Smorgasburg, which is kind of like a food fair of Brooklyn restaurants/picklemakers/etc which happens Saturdays around lunchtime.

On Half Day

@vanillawaif SEPARATE TOOTHPASTES. I am not even kidding. He can squeeze from the middle to his heart's content and you don't have to have the "GOD WHY" moment of annoyance towards him twice a day, which can contribute to a culture of mutual annoyance based on dumb shit. (I realize that the toothpaste is the least of your problems! I just have strong opinions about/experience with dreaded middle-squeezers.)

On Why Do We Still Live Here, in This Repulsive Town?

This Mortal Coil - Song to the Siren. Even though I know in my logical brain it sounds like it belongs on some Enya Slow Moods compilation from the '90s, even when I am in a happy relationship that song can make me cry like a first breakup.
