Well in light of this and the Angelina Jolie stuff here's a blog about being tested for "faulty" genes that cause colon rectal cancer and dealing with having those genes: http://www.ihavelynchsyndrome.com/
@terrific Well you don't have to feel terrible because the threat isn't new to you! That's good and means you can be level headed in that situation and know how to react. Besides in KS you can see it coming for a while (yay for completely flat landscapes). But as a person not from the midwest who married a Kansan just know that we don't know what the hell is going on and what's an appropriate level of panic for these storm situations. So if the sirens DO go off, just make sure to be clear and informative and don't assume we know the drill.
@Smallison Well and also Moore is kinda of an area that is perfect for tornadoes and they get hit every year, so locals aren't surprised about WHERE this happened, just the magnitude of the devastation.
@hollysh Ugh have you seen the terrible things online where people leave tips in upside down water glasses or start off with the tip on the table and then openly deduct as they are displeased. Srsly people? Did you have to be so obnoxious about your rudeness?
@Tragically Ludicrous Yeah it's true! My husband does because he spent so long in food service and he remembers how much a good tip to do for saving your sanity. Like he never tips below $5 even if we just bought a $2 drink and then he has some crazy math for more expensive purchases, but it always ends up generous.
@par_parenthese YES! My NPR alter-ego is way cooler than I am.
@fondue with cheddar Mine's Hua Anderson-Husseini.
@Lily Rowan I don't understand offense at all really? Even Mrs. HusbandsFirstName HusbandsLastName. I'm married and that doesn't bug me when people do that. However I apparently have a forgettable face and have had people introduce them selves to me many times in a row (srsly, I went to the same summer camp for 10 years and some of the kids would introduce themselves to me EVERY YEAR...) so I guess I'm generally just relieved when people can correctly identify me in any way including as the spouse of someone else. Also I don't expect too much of the general public in terms of etiquette so there's not much that will disappoint me. Srsly, with weddings and other events of that type if you are genuinely excited for your guests to share your day with you, provide restrooms, and provide food if your event intersects meal times, then you've passed my test for wedding etiquette.
On "The tragedy of Obama's presidency is that he's too much of a Ravenclaw and not enough of a Gryffindor."
@HMSBeagle Mine too. Not agressive, just likes to eat.
Dramatic march/dancing to The Proclaimers' I'm Gonna Be (and pretending like it's with David Tennant from that one video....)
