Awwwww! Doggies! Five stars and belly rubs for everyone!
@Jaya Fair enough. I am coming at it with the point of view of someone who's had to answer a lot of clueless questions about the serious issues India faces, and am a bit tired of it, which makes me cranky and easily offended, I must admit.
@Jaya Of course, I am not arguing that it doesn't exist. I am from India, I see it happening all the time. I typed out a longer comment the first time and then deleted it because I do not usually post comments like this, but the "Ban dowries" parenthesis really irked me. First of all, the article does mention that it is illegal, and secondly, it feels a bit patronising. I may be overthinking things, but I feel like the general coverage of women's issues in non-western countries here lately has been a bit hurried and not well thought-out.
Dowries are illegal in India already.
@annpan Me! I never learnt swimming as a kid, and I just started lessons this week. I am terrible at breathing and can't swim in a straight direction and cannot stand up without flopping around like a walrus, but my instructor is super nice and if anyone else is laughing, I'm too busy to notice. It's fun, you should do it!
This reminds me of The Tiny Art Director.
Did I see this here?
@Ellie We did! I don't get email notifications about comments anymore, weird.
@Ellie Yes, light touches are the worst! I have to then rub the same spot to get rid of the icky feeling. I was mostly fine with my boyfriend touching me too. Should stop commenting now, I sound like a total weirdo.
@sheistolerable I had to look that up. Like TheLetterL, I experience it sometimes, mostly with people whispering. I also get that irrational rage on being touched. Didn't know this was actually a thing, I thought it was just me being a terrible person. At least this discovery isn't as traumatic as the time I discovered trypophobia was an actual thing and looked it up on google.
@j-i-a Thank you! I'd like to know why I find these images so creepy, but I can't even read about them without being creeped out.
