On Family Budget Items We Could Spend the $48,000 Value of an Oscar Gift Bag On

@Dandyliongirl it's more than double what my boyfriend and I earn as a couple.

On The Award for Best Lipstick

@laserbeams My favorite is OCC cause they last forever and have over the top colours. http://www.occmakeup.com/lips.html I think I'm pretty average looking, face-wise, but I wear oranges, metalics and even black or baby blue lips. I just treat it as an accessory rather than enhancement.

On Places Where Single Women Are Encouraged to Seek "The One," and to Which I've Gone, Dutifully, to Befriend No One But Likeminded Women

I also once followed a guy out from a record store and asked him on the sidewalk to get coffee. We went out non-exclusively for about a year and are still pals like 15 years latter.

On Places Where Single Women Are Encouraged to Seek "The One," and to Which I've Gone, Dutifully, to Befriend No One But Likeminded Women

I met my current boyfriend of 13 years at an avant-garde music fest in a small town. Previous boyfriends where met at a bus stop, a bar, a punk show (x3), the library, and a vintage clothing store. I tend to talk to randos lots though.

On Gender, Generations, and Faculty Conflict

@kimkrypto There are plenty of non-upper class women in academia. Associate and part time profs don't exactly earn a killing.

On Why Buying From Emerging Fashion Designers Costs More Money (and Why That's Okay)

I'm an artist and generally broke to extremely broke , the idea of buying *any* piece of clothing for 200$ is so far out of reach for me, it might as well for 20000$. I'm not down with sweatshops either , that's why everything I buy is from a thrift or vintage store. My budget for summer dresses is more in the 5-15$ range.

That said , as much I think folks should support creatives (um hi , I am one) , looking at clothing as investment is rather puzzling to me. I mean even if something is really well made , that doesn't mean it's not going to go out of fashion or that your style or weight won't change.

On GTFO, Prom

@Sarah H. I didn't cause I was too punk and most of my pals were people I met at all ages shows rather than my super nerdy catholic HS. Prom wasn't a big thing at my school though so most of the classmates I chilled with didn't go either.
