"I feel like he invalidates the whole "can you enjoy the artistic work of a bad person?" debate because, to me at least, his weird misogyny and inability to create empathic characters/situations is so incredibly evident in his films."
Yes yes yes 1000000x yes
I'm definitely on the side that you can separate the work and the person when taking appraisal, but for me that just makes it easier because I find both in this case to be despicable.
My boyfriend and I did a post on our blog a while back on Japanese breakfast options, here: gorumando.com/the-japanese-breakfast
I actually am kind of a cereal person, though, so my usual is homemade muesli (steel cut oats, shredded coconut, sliced almonds) soaked overnight in plain yogurt + frozen blueberries or chopped apple + drizzle of honey and/or cinnamon.
LW 3 - I've been in a relationship with a super hot/good at sex guy for almost four years, and I also noticed a drop in sex drive after the first year. We now probably have sex about twice a week, whereas in the first few months (we were also long distance) we would sometimes have sex 2-3 times a day when we were together. I've always attributed it to a combination of familiarity (so it doesn't have that same spark of the new anymore) and the effects of my birth control. I've noticed that I usually get the most turned on towards the end of the week of placebos, when I guess I have the least amount of hormones in my system. Sometimes I wonder if I went off of it whether I'd be turned on more and more frequently, but the idea of an IUD scares me and I would worry constantly if we had to rely on other methods so I just deal with it. But seriously, can't wait for male birth control to happen.
@adorable-eggplant Thanks so much! The teapot is a Japanese tetsubin, you can buy them online at http://korin.com/Tableware_2/Tea-Pots_2
@jaimie Oh! And I should have included twitter, also new: @machinschoses
@StandardTuber I just started a blog this week, http://machinschoses.com
Hoping desperately that my creative projects take off in some way so I can quit my phd program and be happy again.
Also, my boyfriend and I went out to dinner and split the check, so I guess I bought myself a delicious plate of Korean spicy octopus.
Kork-ease sandals! I like these: ( http://www.korkease.com/product.aspx?ProductID=454 ) the best, because I prefer a thong-style, but they have other styles too. They need breaking in first, but after you do they'll be perfect. They're kinda like Birkenstocks in that way, but much better looking.
If we're plugging our sites, this week my boyfriend and I finally bought a domain space and started a real food blog. He does the words, I do the visuals. It's not totally ready (no about page yet), but it's almost there and I'm really excited about it!
For everyone having skin issues -- OIL CLEANSE!!! Seriously. I tend to have dry skin and after college I started also having lots of random breakouts, and after doing it for about six months I don't have any problems anymore (though it didn't take this long to be effective, more like a couple weeks). Even with dryness, and I had ALWAYS had dry skin, to the point where I had to wear heavy moisturizer with Aquaphor over it at night to not have peeling patches in the morning. So, try it!
I'm going to a wedding this weekend, actually, in upstate NY, and I'm planning to wear sheer black hose with my (light grey) dress. Goes with everything, provides some warmth, and doesn't look too intense.
